Thomas the Tank Engine, Superman, and Lucy

So I am still undecided about the Twiggy cut. But now I feel like after getting my (and maybe even your) hopes up that it would be really disappointing if I didn't change my hair at all.

On a different note, a few days ago on Hel-Looks I saw a picture of a girl and it gave me a really great idea. She had a little kid cartoon character mini-backpack. Last week I saw my sister's friend with the same idea. I think it's pretty cool, actually. I don't know why but I really like the look. It's playful and daring and bold.
This one is from Target:
It costs $13, money I for one am not willing to pay for such a thing, but I will probably end up finding a cheaper one at a drugstore near my school.

Also, in both American Vogue and Nylon, I found an editorial based on Superheros. It was pretty neat! Being a comic nerd, I was very appreciative of these features. And the fact that both they're both American magazines makes me wonder if we're behind the trends or just setting them? Oh well. I try not to follow that stuff, haha.
The pictures below are from Vogue-I couldn't locate Nylon's pictures, though I personally liked it better. It was more realistic and gave me more ideas, this one wasn't very inspirational to me at all. Artistic and cool to look at, but I didn't spend 20 minutes trying to adapt the outfits like I did with Nylon.
Also, while watching I Love Lucy the other night (when you don't have cable you actually pay attention to the good stuff on television), I noticed that I really do love Lucy, her clothes, especially. These pictures depict her best comical and fashion moments on screen.
Forget Twiggy, I'm gettin' red curls!
Ha, could you imagine?!?

So I'm getting kind of sick of my long hair. Ok, it's more mid-length, but it feels long. And with summer just around the corner, I have been longing for a haircut. I want one that's short but still makes me look a bit older. And for goodness sake, I am not getting a soccer mom cut. Didn't look good 3 years ago, won't look decent now.
But I like change, and trying out something new. Last month I almost dyed my hair but didn't due to lack of self trust.
I've even been considering the Twiggy look. I love Twiggy, she's gorgeous, amazing...I almost wanna say "style icon" but I don't want to sound like Tyra on ANTM (by the way, who's been watching this season? We have to chat. I get very in-depth when talking Top Model.). My mom really likes the look, my dad thinks that then I'd actually look like her, haha. However, my face is pretty round so I don't know if it work look all that great. But could you picture it? Or is there another hairstyle you think would work out better? I wanna know what you think!

Floral Fetish

Today, in the dark of my basement, I spent a little more time than I would like to admit browsing Polyvore. But I think the weather had something to do with me choosing these items.

Annah from Fashion, Art and Mess tagged me for a new survey, so yay! Hopefully I don't sound like a butt as I answer these questions, but I have fun with these things so here I go:

5 Things found in my bag:

*Something to read (usually a magazine)
*Gum (I'm addicted)
*Cell phone
*Lots of petty, trivial change

5 Things found in my purse:

*ID for school
*Something to write with and a doodle pad
*A, uh, camel? I really don't keep much in my purse

5 Favourite things in my room:

*My window where I can have funny talks with my 5 year old neighbors
*My PEZ collection
*My autographs from Bernadette Peters and James Lapine (the theater nerd in you will know who they are)
*My records
*My massive sewing supplies

5 Things I always wanted to do:

*Own a joke shop (there's a really cool one by my house and I go there a lot)
*Go to east Africa
*Perform on Broadway, baby
*Write a movie (the reason I'm reading all those screenplays)
*I'm a terrible chef, so cook something very impressive like a souffle and have it actually not taste like deer poop (but if it does, a guy at my school once ate deer poop voluntarily so maybe he could take it off my hands)

5 Things I am currently into:

*Blogging and fashion. I never ever recall liking fashion or anything related that much when I was little, but right now it seems to always be on my mind.
*I mean this in the least creepy way possible-but I am weirdly obsessed with Agathe from Style Bytes' pig, Molvin. There's this one picture of her that is so cute I set it as my desktop background. I hope I don't sound like a creeper. God, I sound like a creeper, but I like pigs! And now whenever I see my desktop I yell out "PIG!" without thinking. Is something wrong with me?
*Bath salts. I stocked up last summer at a huge Bath & Body Works sale and I think I'm set for life.
*Yael Naim. I just got her CD and her music is amazing. I'm in love.
*California Pizza Kitchen. I went there yesterday with a few friends and it was absolutely delicious. Plus, free birthday sundae!

The person who tagged you is Annah from Fashion, Art and Mess

Your 5 impressions of her:
*I love that she watches America's Next Top Model. Also that she has pet turtles. That is just too cool.
*Her style is simple but not boring, with that "effortlessly stylish" trait that I wish I had. It is just perfectly balanced and incredibly appealing, almost to an addicting point, where I tend to go through pages and pages of her posts.
*She is so creative-I mean, seriously, look at this post!!! Who would have ever thought of using Mr. Toad to model some new jewelry?
*She's an artist. Her mere doodles are great and her photography is absolutely amazing, as well as her fabulous modeling. I really love looking at the cool pictures she takes of plants and windows and that kind of thing. It's just so neat, I'm sorry!!
*She has this really cool nostalgic touch to her outfits that absolutely complete them.

I'm tagging....

*Hand It Over
*Urban Audrey
*The Perks of Being a Wall Flower
*Purple Macaroni

Maybe I'll be able to stop cutting off my feet in pictures.

With the wonders of the internet and Old Navy and my procrastinating mind that often likes to distract itself, I have uncovered a pair of T-strap sandals I have been wanting for so SO long (and this pair is only $10!). I had to get this up here before that mind of mine forgets about them, not to mention I need your advice on which color I should get: white or black? Ok, you're done, carry on!

H+M+Marimekko....sounds like something truly spectacular. My mom has always had a great appreciation of Marimekko, especially since she's from Norway and the company is from Finland. She's a little obsessed, and now, so am I. So when I found out they were getting together with H&M for a clothing line, I was quite the happy shopper.

Betsey Johnson is a new favorite

So the birthday was pretty good. I couldn't eat basically anything because I'm fasting for Passover....blah. But I still have lots to look forward to in the next few days. Sorry I used so many pictures on this one-haha. It was so hard to narrow it down, though! I would really go and look at the pictures for yourself. But seriously, look at all these fun patterns. Skulls, guns, stripes, polka dots, leopard print, clowns, toys......And is it not obvious that the 80's had something to do with these designs? Check out all the zippers, belts......I'm in love.
Betsey Johnson usually does stuff that is much more glitzy, but I have been extREMEly pleased with her latest collections. I've been looking at her runway photos for the past 45 minutes, creepy or obsessed? You decide.
And the last picture is Betsey with her granddaughter-cue the "awwwww"s. But it is a cute idea, and the little girl is adorable. Awwwwwww.

Hello all!

So tonight was our last show. Definitely sad, but also a bit relieving. I now have a lot more time to relax, which is always nice. I have a lot of things to look forward to this week-birthday (tomorrow), sleepover at Stephanie's (with her little sister Caroline), and lots of shopping (I will post pictures of my buys!)

But I took these this morning-thoughts, advice, comments???? I wanna know what you have to say!! Hair looks kinda weird, it wasn't yet dry from the shower, haha. The sunglasses, belt, and tights are all the same in all pictures. And I'm still figuring out which poses work best, but we'll see.
Above: Top, used to be sister's; Shorts, Old Navy; Belt, Vintage; Tights, Drugstore (Ha!); Sunglasses, used to be Mom's.
Above: Pullover, used to be Mom's; Tights, Drugstore; Belt, Vintage; Sunglasses, used to be Mom's; Shoes, sister's (Much too big for me, but go with the outfit so I thought I'd wear them for this picture).

So let me know what you think!

Yours truly,

A new endeavor: Marianne Faithfull

Isn't she gorgeous!!!! Marianne Faithfull. Mick Jagger's wife, accomplished singer, and one of my style icons. I'd really like to adapt her style! It's exactly what I like- masculinity and femininity in one outfit.
Let's work head to toe. For sunglasses, I have the red risky businesses from FredFlare, but I don't think those will work out. These are from Claire's, the little vines on the sides aren't my favorites but I like these shades so much that I don't care:What I would really like is an oversized blazer. I hope I can find one in the women's section so it's a little big and has that menswear look on me. These are all from Old Navy:Now I need a top. I have a white button-down blouse, it's very simple but I like it. I also have this vintage scarf that I could tie on top. As for the pants, I am really lost. I have to find some trousers, but I have no idea where. Do any of you lovely chaps have a suggestion?
Shoes is also an issue. Blah. I will never be able to find decent shoes. Sigh. Broques would be perfect if I was able to find a pair somewhere....
Ok, so maybe this didn't turn out as productive as I thought. So it's an obstacle, an endeavor! I'll keep working and hunting, and post pictures if I ever find the outfit (which I will!)

Marianne Faithfull, why can't I get no SATISFACTION??? (Haha, get it? That was Tavi's play-on-words. RS fans UNITE!)

Yours truly and tiredly,

I'm already getting a cell phone (yesss) and Nylon subscription (joy!) for my birthday, but if not, these would be at the top of my wish list! Browsing through these items (in awe and wonder, might I add) was depressing, intimidating, and tons of fun all at the same time. But what do you think? Which of these would you absolutely die for???

Yours truly,

P.S. And yes, that is a real camera! Do you love it???

Re: 1960's business was dirty and fashionable

Remember when I told you about the play I was in, and the costumes are totally wearable? Well I finally have the pictures! This being a kids show, I can firmly state that these are all from secondhand shops. My costume, however, was from Gap! I didn't like it enough to put it up though....Props to Maria for letting me use her camera, as I still sigh and wait for mine. And sorry the pictures are so pixelly! I have got to figure out how to fix that.
You have no idea how badly I wanted to steal that skinny, white, leather belt....
With the right accessories, I would wear this in a minute.

The beehive actually complements the dress quite nicely!

So, enjoy! Hopefully the show will be an excuse to get my camera early....
Yours truly,

Hippie? Wow, thanks!

Today I wore a skinny headband across my forehead. I also wore a black and white minidress with jagged flowers (H&M); green tights (H&M); my sister's old jean jacket; and a yellow polo I found in my closet that most likely used to be my sister's. The headband was red, and I wore it in the style like this:
My classmates called me a hippie. One kid told me I should have been "in a basement, smoking a joint."
I'm not offended by this. Lately 70's is a style I've been trying to impersonate. But come on kids, if you wanna insult me, come up with something better!
I try not to let these kinds of things get under my skin, though. I'd rather they make fun of me than dress the same way as I do. Ah, well. What are you gonna do.

Yours truly,
King (Formerly Eighth)

1960's business was dirty and fashionable

Tech week....blah. That means not getting homework done (the reason I am home from school now-but you don't see me working, do you?) and coming home late every night with ten pounds of lipstick on, sweaty head to toe from those stage lights, blinding mascara clumps, and so much hairspray you don't even feel your head touching the pillow. Luckily, tech week also means junk food and goofing off in the dressing room with friends. So I guess there's a plus side to everything.

The play I'm in is called How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. It's kind of a satire on how easy it was in the 1960's to get ahead in business, and the sexism in the office.

Once everyone was dressed I'm kind of thinking, "Wow. I would actually wear that." So I'm getting a lot of ideas about different projects and outfits to put together. Pictures up later!

Yours truly,

Photo Shoot-Me and my friends

So these are the first pictures of actual people I am posting-hooray!
I'm the blonde and rather short one (told you!) Emily is the one in the I♥NY tee, and Caroline has the photograph in the washing machine. Oh, and sorry the pictures are so small-any bigger and they would've been really pixely. If you click on them though, they'll show up in a new link in a better view. I wish I could tell you where the clothes are from, but they aren't mine. Most of them are secondhand though, or from England, New York, Israel, or Paris.

Yours truly,
