gold dust woman

Lately I've taken to creating real life moodboards out of the random junk I have on this table in my room. It bums me out that today is Black Friday because I'm not ready to let go of witchy vibes for fall but my high tolerance for the cold will be taken advantage of when it's at 10 degrees and I just want to wear ghost coats all the time.

This one is supposed to be a little cosmic and explorer-y and dusty. As always, it makes sense in my head.

Clockwise from up left: Yes, Rivkah, that is your tambourine. Yoshitomo Nara doll from his cafe in Tokyo (a year ago! Life is weird). Random box which houses my glitter glue. Guatemalan worry dolls. Yes, Rivkah, those are your optical illusion cards. Special journals. Romance Was Born headband sent to me by the folks there. Visually appealing book about deserts from a house-turned-book shop in Michigan. I Love Factory headband also sent to me by the folks there. Thrifted sun brooch. Stevie Nicks' Bella Donna. Grandma's old brooch. Random rock with fortune teller ring on top. Gara Danielle ring. Christian Sampson orange thing from Two Bridges Trading. Jamaican mask. Toothfairy box from Arizona. And all that stuff is sitting on a botanical illustrations booklet. And hanging above them is my New Orleans voodoo charm and a dreamcatcher.

Seriously intrigueing, want to steal that deserts book. It kind of reminds me of indiana jones, if he married someone who owned a museum or something. In the best possible way.

Moodboard. Hmm. Sounds fascinating. I love it, except for the little mask and the skeleton face because disembodied faces creep me out.

How incredibly eclectic(:
Looks like it could be in the house of someone with a lot of folk art tiles in their kitchen and sunflowers on their counter.

cancercowboy said...

these journals look way cool. as if they're full of mysterious drawings and novel fragments in mirror writing ^__^ your place seems to be a real depository. if i had to pick one item i'd take either the mask or the rock.
i also like the general idea. 3D moodboards border on installation art ^__^
and fall is officially done over here, we already have the first snow.

You own a lot of strange things. It reminds me of me when I was younger. Then I moved and everything got jumbled thrown out or sold...ahhh those were the days. I remember I had quite the dreamcatcher and beanie baby collection as well as an array of glass figurines that I miss dearly.

I remember one time when I was a kid my dad took a trip to Oregon and brought me back a book about deserts and a post card with a roadrunner on it.

I love those journals. Beautiful covers, is the brown one made of leaves?

Also the headband with blue and white detailing is lovely. I've been looking for nice headbands for work, since I have to wear a boring head to toe black uniform, but we're allowed hair accessories and earings.
