louis vuitton

I know Louis Vuitton was ridiculous but I just can't bring myself to hate it. Not even the shoes-giant clumps of fur seem like the perfect way to balance most of the looks and I think they're kind of cute and funny. The models were little cartoon Joesph Cornell boxes clunking down the runway with the funny shoes and the fros. Dudes, I am just SO feeling it. Spring Break 2010!

The different textures and colors are so perfect down to every detail and it's nice to see boundaries pushed so far in a season where most brands were pretty safe.

Well I actually like it a lot better than the current a/w collection!
There's so much about it I'm feeling too =D
I think I'd feel happy when wearing it!
The fabrics in the last image remind me of Gucci ss07 which I really loved.

I actually liked this collection too. I would wear it in bits and pieces.. But the hair and bows make me laugh a bit.

I want that stripey shirt/skirty/thinger. I want it so hard.

In related news, yesterday I walked past a Louis Vuitton window dressing and there were like, forest animals? Like a skunk sitting on top of a rabbit. And a raccoon on top of a doe. Wtf is that about, I mean really.

Anonymous said...

I like the collection, but it would have been even better with big hair accessories to match the big hair!

you made a joseph cornell reference which makes me so incredibly happy! xx

Looking at this, I don't know whether to laugh or clap. the collection is kind of bizarrely terrific.

i personally loved it! some of the pieces would actually be quite wearable too - they're just displayed in such a fantastically fun way.

EXCEPT the shoes - sorry louis vuitton, not digging those at all.

Mr. Jerry Seguin said...

it was an absurd collection, which is great. but when viewing vuitton i expect a more discerning eye. this felt like more of an MJ show. i'd rather the 2 collections be more different than similar. XO JS

I agree wholeheartedly! In fact, I sort of loved the shoes, minus the boots. I love all things dangly, and I definitely think that clogs are ready for a comeback.

the hair was awesome, as was the collection!! veeery harajuku girls (not the real ones, gwen stefani's little cartoons)

Sometimes the world needs a little absurdity, right?

kate cait sith said...

I don't know why but the hair reminds me of something straight out of FRUiTs, with a Himegyaru-esque tinge with the bows et al.
I also don't know if Marc's intention was like some sort of mockery on the fashion industry, but either way I like it.

Like the clothes, not too big on the fur...

I agree completelly, it was a bit ridic', but in all the girls looked like cutesy 70's cartoon characters (thats mean to be a complement. Loved it..

Love it or hate it, Marc start trends and doesn't follow them. Sometimes you have to look back at the show a few months later to really 'get' it...

Love the colours and textures so much though, especially in the last picture.
It's ridiculous, but I love it.

I love these cropped cuffs & tiny little passport sized bags with stripes. It’s good to see LV do something that isn’t blatant branding; maybe they've finally had enough of people copying them. Anyway Tavi I like this, it seems like your sort of style too.

I almost think the hair takes away from the clothes, which is unfortunate. I really like the collection--something about the color palette and the layering patterns. I can't get past practical me though and think those shoes would get very, very funky within minutes.

Holy shit... the hair is so distracting that I can't even see the clothes right now. Maybe if I try to close my eyes for 10 seconds it will help

No. Nothing. Still hideous

I love it as well...whimsical. Not serious, fall is always so serious, it seems to me. The fros are hilarious, haha. Perfect balance to the girly, pinky primness of the outfits. That's just my take.

Love the blog, keep this stuff up, it's so good

A confused and senseless collection. There is not besides difference with the personal collection of Marc. Just ugly.

honestly, I hated the collection nd I was surprised because I usually like Louis Vuitton. Well, at least something. But for me it is getting worse every year. Seriously, those shoes were revolting.

It's so funny cause the first reaction i had to the show was "omg that's sooo Tavi!!" and i was just waiting for you to pronounce yourself on it!

I also think it's fabulous... if not just for the irony of it all!

ps i love reading your reviews, i think they're so much more personal and less biased than all those other critics. And a lot more fun to read. You actually offer a real point of view, please keep it up!

I mean, when you are a brand like LV, even in these hard economic times, playing it sae & cookiecutter can knock you right out of the league.

This is LV we are talking about. I mean, cmon. I loved the shoes especially. It was so satirical.

I blogged about this too - there was something scary about one of the models in particular - quite a feirce look meant in the traditional sense of the word - but some of the looks were put together really well.

I agree w/ Soren Lorensen! "well i hope this hair is in
because this is my hair!" Yeah it's actually absurdedly big, though. Buuuut! In haute couture you'll find hair in all manifestations that's absurdedly big and distracting.. Just straight and curly. I guess it adds to the visual impact of the show.

Another commenter mentioned how it reminds him/her of Fruits and the Japanese fashion magazines. I can say that those foxtail accents at the waist are from Japanese fashion 8 years ago! Pop star Ayumi Hamasaki brought the trend to Gyaru all over Japan. I kind of wanted to rock that when I was in high school in NYC (but I thought it best not to. Hehe.)

Joseph Cornell? There's NO WAY IN HELL a 13-year-old is writing this stuff on her own. Sorry.
