i have found meaning

J.W. Anderson's SS11 collection lifechangingly came to my attention via Maddie and I think I have finally found everything I ever want to be, that is to say, compiled of and exuding perfect hippie/Weetzie Bat/teen angst/murky/good ugly/bittersweet/ladies of the canyon/witch vibes. The thrown togetheredness of various references suggest that every piece was picked up at a different stop on a road trip or were homemade and have been happily lived in. Matching up such different textures and prints seems random but each layer serves a purpose, preventing the styling from getting sloppy, and details like the skirt pleats keep the pieces from teetering into easily-found-in-thrift-stores territory.

It reminds me a lot of this hippie goddess girl I saw in the hall the other day wearing a long black velvet dress and clogs and a woven backpack and I really wanted to know what she was doing in school because it was obvious that she should've been traveling in a painted van or something, but at least this way I'll probably see her again and will have the opportunity to ask if she'll carry me around in her backpack and let me smell her hair, whose scent I imagine is probably a cross between jasmine and hibiscus with a dash of mint. I think the odds of her letting me be in her painted van club are even more in my favor if I tell her that last part!

Ah yes you really have found the collection made especially for you! I was thinking about all of the tavi vibes as I went through all of the looks: tulle skirt - tick, casual boots with sparkly stuff on - tick, diy crafty vibe - tick, witchy vibe - tick, staring straight into the camera with hands by sides - tick. Fo sho it's tavi all the way (maybe u are their secret muse)!!

Do you or anybody know what the 4th rune in the Grace Micelli thing means? Without the meaning of that rune, it says 'etho.ea'. I've never seen the 4th rune...

"...ask if she'll carry me around in her backpack..." - really good! :-)

Reminds me of Franz Kafka...

"...so I ride off on the bucket. Seated on the bucket my hands on the handle, the simplest kind of bridle, I propel myself with difficulty down the stairs..."

This is from "The Bucket Rider"...

the girl model in these pics i know is purposely slouching for affect. but posture's a big deal, and more confidence from not a slouch.

Anyone here remember that Slider episode, 1rst of 2nd season, where they are in a magic world and there are talks of political stuffs about introducing ouija in schools?
(the cat made me think that)

fashionslap.net said...

Aww Kitty. Eh it's an alright collection. I'm not a fan of chunky shoes, though I have a friend who is so that's all determined with personal taste I suppose. I also suppose you go to a big school haha random girl in the hall? I never had that in High School there were 700 students maybe around 800 total that I went to school with. Peanuts compared to schools these days with 5000 students.

Juliato_93 said...

Seems like Millie has followed the same way that did her best friend Lindsay. My favourite geek's now discovered a way to give her aprés-ski sweaters, her lace and collared shirts a new meaning... she's turn, not bad, yet a mistic girl, like a dusty desert young sorceress. That slouch back and white socks in enlarging boots did the rest.
Love your inspiratioOon!!!

seriously, this collection really does look a bit like you, emanating various moods that you generated with "household means" earlier on. and you did a fab job at choosing pics that pick up the atmosphere of the individual outfits and provide a great backdrop. but i'd bet that this isn't the end of your journey ^__^

i can totally picture you in that backpack, blissfully smiling. you would probably look like this. or this. ;)
