i love her so.. one of my favorite artists. thanks for posting, i will too.www.adreamkingdom.blogspot.com
i never heard of her (though i don't know that many artists). the first one is really intriguing since it can be interpreted in so many different ways!http://indian-winter.blogspot.com/
Louise Bourgeois created some really powerful, thought provoking work. Always an influence...
I think I saw a giant spider on the moon yesterday. But it was Louise inventing a new toy to play.xxx
I loved her:'( She always had great inspiration and inspirational photos.
Rest in Peace,my thiughts are with her family, friends and fans,gabi,http://highfashionisdead.blogspot.com
I have never heard of this person before, but I guess now's the time.
all hail louise. i'll never get to attend a salon!!i guess i'll have to wait until i'm older and host my own.
How awfully fun this is, pushing fashion to the limits is what makes life so exciting! http://fashionsmind.blogspot.com/
biggest regret: not visiting her studio when i was in nyc last winter. i wanted her to live forever. :( much love.
Just wanted to tell you that you inspire me. I went to your archive because those are my favorite tavi blogs. I trashed half of my blog and made it more personal. I loved the blog you wrote about in your closet. I loved the wood ladder with paint all over it. I also loved the one about how your hair looked like a loaf of bread. You make me so happy. You are a treasure!
One more thing. Did you see Whatever Works - Woody Allen. I was thinking of you when I watched it. Sick.
Um, can I hug you? You're 14 and you know who Louis Bourgeois is (and love her)? You win Best Human Award.I miss her terribly. She was such an inspiration, and I always secretly wished I could go to one of her salons and have her rip apart my work just so I could bask in the awesomeness that (still is) Bourgeois.
Oh my gosh, I only read this article on the weekend. I had no idea.
wow She lived to do great things.JDiplayfaves.blogspot.com
Despite being agoraphobic, I loved her spiders. Eww... Spiders!
Ah, to believe I just learned about her a few months ago when watching a great PBS documentary: http://www.pbs.org/art21/artists/bourgeois/index.html (I saw it streaming on Netflix)@tedexi1988: いいえ,美術家の名はルイーズ ( http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%AB%E3%82%A4%E3%83%BC%E3%82%BA%E3%83%BB%E3%83%96%E3%83%AB%E3%82%B8%E3%83%A7%E3%83%AF )
RIP, she was one courageous woman!
the first thing is really... dunno... inspiring? inspiring in so many different ways?but yes, I love it.
I wrote a response about the death of Louise and the death of artists, but also (and mostly) about that enigmatic feminine body-ness about her work, and a lot of other artists' work. You'll like it, it has zines, 'cause I once wrote a zine about enigmatic feminine body-ness in zines and in art.http://peasant-poesies.blogspot.com/2010/06/medium-message-female-form-and-also.htmlI can send you a copy of the whole zine someday when I make more copies of it. I'm out!
no way :(
i don't know if it's just me.. but all three of these images relate and it's quite beautiful. as if the first image was made inspired by the latter 2 images. ...am i talking nonsense?
I've schedulated to go to Venice next weekend to see her last exibition :(Mrs Bourgeois RIP.http://flyselfportrait.blogspot.com
wow. just amazing.
Tavi, after this post i doubt i will ever be surprised by you. 14 years old and you know Louise Bourgeois, an amazing artist, one of my favourite sculptors ever, a woman 7 times your age...you are amazing too...
No! Why are all the great creative bodies suddenly leaving us? This is so sad.Emilie xxfromahappieangle.blogspot.com
so sad - what an amazing woman though!
ah il est belle Tavi!Tildy xhttp://ohsokitsch.blogspot.com
I didn't know who she was until I was assigned to do a project on her last month. I wish I had learned of her earlier because she was such an infectious, unique, brilliant woman. I really truly admire her.http://lesadventuresdulorax.blogspot.com
I love this post!
oh Tavi...I love your blog so muchly! X
love your blog tavi so great!!
I find it amazing that she was "only discovered" by the time she was 70. I love her work and I'm so glad that I've had the chance to see some of her work exhibited.
i love how she always orders her staffpersn to bring her cans of coca cola.
RIP LB! Your work will live on!
Most amazing sculptor of the last century. Truly someone who made advances for the world of art and design by playing by her own rules. The world has lost one of the best artists, and I have lost a dear friend.
check out lovisebore.blogspot.com :)
I guess we can't live forever :(. such a wonderful woman and artist.
So sad, she rose to fame so late in life, her work really is a genuine inspiration to women (sorry that sentance sounded a bit cheesey).
i love her work!! she had a long and awesome life. may she inspire many more generations of people in years to come!!
love it!you might like my new post of videos from LV and Dior for inspiration!http://rosacouture.blogspot.com/2010/06/lady-blue-shangai-vs-encounter-with.html<3
She was such an amazing woman and a huge inspiration. I will always look to the print on my wall "BE CALM" and think of her beautiful soul. May she rest in peace.
I am ashamed, because just now I met her incredible creativity. I want to learn about her life. Through you, thank you.
And I thought she would live forever... she had such a strong presence in the female art world and continues to with her enormous sculptures. Truely inspiring woman. I admire you tremendously for having knowing this artist at your age, I only discovered her my senior year of college. I believe you have the power to do great things in this world just as she did.
another great find, i do love obscure art x
very cool :)vizit my blog pleez!
oh tavi! daul kim, now louis! will i always know from you about great people passed away. thanks for info anyway. you're a brilliant mind.
another great woman who has passed on great inspiration to so many. i am glad she lived and created for so long. she will be missed.she has given us so many gifts.
i saw her giant spider outside of the National Gallery in Ottawa. As an artist I admire someone so committed to her vision.RIPhttp://pleasedontshootmedown.blogspot.com/
LOVE her work
you always seem to find things that ive never heard of, i can just imagine the thoughts going through your head!!<33heelsandinspiration.blogspot.com
interesting, I love sculptural shapes
that is the cutest looking old woman ever!!!
Wow, she lived a long,prosperous life! http://kemichic.blogspot.com
I thought you were going to comment Kazuo Ohno´s passaway as well. Both were from the same generation and passed away the same week. :(xxx
tavi, she was a great mind and you are so sweet to respect her and say aurevoir. thank you for that.i was exactly at your age when i saw her work, "maman" the giant spider, in istanbul biennial and i felt like hugging a spider for the first time in my life. i was so into mythology back then. the spider, mother of fine arts, was there in an ancient byzantine church with all her glory. i guess it was a moment of feeling what artists are capable of, how they can relate to one's inner soul. a feeling of infinity.
I'm glad you posted a few thoughts about Louise. I bet, if you two had met, you would have been great friends, even if only for a moment.
Great post, she deserves the recognition.
Such an amazing and talented woman. I loved her work.
I saw some of her work on another blog too--I hadn't heard of her before--but all of her work looks amazingly intriguing. she seems to have been a truly talented lady!xxyouareashootingstar.blogspot.com
A lack, indeed.Bisous.
Lovely work. I really like the old lady :)edenly jewellery blog
