Rodarte for Target Giveaway

I would like to announce a Rodarte for Target giveaway! Party time!
Here's how it works:

1. Write in the comments what you're most excited about for the Rodarte for Target line. It could be a specific piece, or just something about the feel of the collection you like, or anything. I've made comments anonymous-inclusive so anyone can enter. Leave your email address in the comments too so we can get your mailing address if you win.

2. I will pick 40-45 winners (but don't try to make the answer suitable to my tastes or anything. That's no fun!) We will email the winners and the pieces will be sent out.

The giveaway item is this mustard lace cardigan I said I would wear every day if I could in the collaboration video.

It's also here:I haven't taken any pictures of myself in it but it's super soft and nice to stare at when you're bored during gym WHAT WHO SAID THEY ARE BORED DURING GYM NOT ME.

Now get cracking!

EDIT: I will stop taking entries at midnight Central Standard Time on Saturday, December 19th.

EDIT AGAIN: The contest has ended, we will be emailing the winners this week. Any new entries will be ignored. Thank you to everyone who participated!

EDIT AGAIN AGAIN: Please do not email me about winning. I am basing my choices off the comments alone, emails will be ignored.

Because of the new law, I am supposed to let you know that I receieved compensation and pieces from the Rodarte for Target collection for my collaboration with Target.

How sweet of you! Mmkay..here goes nuttin'....

I promise promise promise that I'm not 'just saying' this but one specific piece I was really looking forward was actually the mustard cardigan. Yellow is my fa-vor-ite color and I love all things girly and sweet :]

I was able to find a website that had a near-full lookbook of the collection and saw three different versions of that adorable bow belt! I might have to snag up a leopard one...

And....my inner French-girl pulls me towards the striped shirt. The collection as a whole has a lot of little details that I ADORE. I can't stop at just one item!

Thanks so much,

i am really excited for the collection as a whole. everything about rodarte makes me smile. they are so unique in every way possible. having even ONE piece from the collection would make my life complete.

ps. the lace dress with the bows is totally rad.

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes!

I am so excited for this whole collection, but the piece I'm most looking forward to is the nude lace and silk dress (I saw a gorgeous picture of it in Lucky and cannot stop obsessing over it) to wear with black tights and black combat boots. It's so pretty and nice for winter. Also, the leopard print dress that you have! I have such a strange weakness for leopard print, plus the bows in the back are delightful.

Oh my leaping lizards! Like so many things in life, the Rodarte for Target collection is nearly unequivocally something I could never pull off. I just don't have what it takes! But that cardigan? Now THAT I can live with! Maybe if I wear it every day (like you would) I can [mustard] up the courage to be a bit more daring with my wardrobe. Hahahaha.

Bad jokes aside, I always love what I can't have--Rodarte included.

Sincerely,
Tasha E.

Honestly, I am looking forward to the whole collection. Especially the leopard dress you wore in the last entry. The lace bras which I'm hoping will be there, and the mustard dress. Oh, and the ones with the ribbons on top of the sleeves. So perfect. Probably the best collaboration Target/GO has done yet.

I'm super excited for the lace tights and the lace cardigan. These unique items are hard to find for cheap prices and will be great additions to my wardrobe. Plus, lace is always a plus in my book.

Cool!

Alright, my favorite piece is the black halter dress. The whole silhouette and style is very 50s and classic, but it has an edge to it.. I guess because wearing a 50s dress is edgy and weird? But the mustard cardigan, is amazing. I need more color in my wardrobe. I tried to accomplish that by buying purple skinny jeans. But the cardigan is much more classier.

I have to say I'm super impressed with the collection, and it's the coolest Target x designer line EVER!!

I'm most excited for the tulle skirt, not gonna lie, but it would look lovely with the mustard cardigan...hint hint lol.

I live in central PA and am hoping that no one here in BFE knows what Rodarte is so that Target isn't sold out before I can get there. That has nothing to do with the giveaway, I'm just hoping some ladies here can relate.

My favorite part of this collection is one of the inspirations: Bonnie and Clyde. I love that whole romantic running-around-being-rebels vibe that it gives off -rebels with lace and leopard print ribbons, of course. they really captured that whole sexy but dangerous mystique.

I'm sure five hundred people will say this, but I also like how this collaboration makes their work a tangible reality for a greater amount of people. It's one thing to lust over something on the internet, but to be able to wear an idea is great.

What I love about Rodarte is the effortlessness. The clothes are a like breath of fresh air compared to the toughness that is being displayed everyone else. So, for that day when you just want to be girly and delicate without losing the fashion forward edge, this cardigan will be the perfect sidekick.
Thanks for the initiative Tavi!

I read a nice little article in Nylon and I am impressed by the thoughtful design process and wonderful nods to artists and musicians through this lovely collection. It's about time a design team with intelligent musings and a true process were chosen for this partnership! Those swirly lace tights are knockouts and the high-necked sleeveless dress with the sheer black overlay is stunning.

A girl can never have too many cardigans, so I hope you choose me for this giveaway. Thanks!

oh my goodness.

the whole thing is well... like ... incredibly utterly wow

and the black dress looks like the beautiful victorian mourning jewellery i saw at this museum and the yellow skirt looks like it's floating and like like smoke and about to float away

such a pity that australia doesn't get these clothes and stuff and that target and stuff.

I'm really excited for the line in general- i love the look of rodarte! (actually, I'm just super indecisive and would never have a prayer of deciding on one specific piece I'm most excited for. also, I'm easily excitable. SO MANY PREDICAMENTS! anyway. rant end.)I want to be covered in nice, lacy, drapey things without spending a small bit of my soul! Come, rodarte! cover me in delicate fabric and fun, startling design, and i might just give you that little soul-piece!

Cardigans! I can wear them - I'm not so sure about rib cage dresses.

I mostly love that Target is offering a line of clothes that allows the buyer to think about how they want to wear them rather than spoon feeding us with a certain look.

GAH! ok so this might sound pretty backwards, but what i'm most stoked about is the fact that they are so inspired by you - as an individual, not a face. and that by them being inspired by you, they have created an affordable line that will reach a wider pool of people (audience, i guess?) - with you as the face/spokesperson...which might bring more people to investigate fashion blogs, which will hopefully inspire people to get more creative with their own wardrobe...?

let me break it down:

at first people will be inspired to be just like you, but then - hopefully if everything goes right, they will get the message and will get the urge to 'be unique, taking inspiration and clothes from all the right places.'

I think I LOVE all the rodarte piecies for target, but if i had to choose, my favourite pieces are the tuelle black&blue skirt, and the lacy mustard cardigan. Rodarte is so ahmazing! I saw one of their deconstructed sweater dresses paired with the spider-webby tights and boy that sent me in a swoon! Have a lovely weekend Tavi!

I'm excited for the unusual mix of texture and color that is rarely if ever offered at a lower price point. In turn, i'm even more excited to see how girls style/wear them when they normally wouldn't have such lush options within their reach. :)

As for specific pieces i'm most interested in the nude dress and the leopard dress with bows!

i am most looking forward to the mustard yellow cardigan. i am a poor college student--i go to school in such a small town that the only place to shop is wal-mart !! so i am learning how to sew, that way i can make my own clothes :)
annnyway, i am looking forward to that cardigan because a) i feel as if i'm eighty instead of twenty sometimes, and this cardigan will be a perfect blend of the two and b) my bedroom at home is painted mustard yellow. it is my favorite place to be, but my mom is painting over it. i need something mustard yellow and beautiful to remind me of me lovely place of comfort since it will soon be gone forever!

I'm most excited that Rodarte doesn't think they're lessening their brand by making their clothes available to the general public. All of the designers who have partnered with GO International get props from me, Rodarte especially because it's such a hot brand right now.

For me, besides the excitement of being able to afford something designed by artists with talent and vision (rather than by someone designing specifically to sell to the masses in the removed, greedy, and impersonal way we have become so accustomed to) is the idea that the collection is slightly creepy in a way that is completely accessible to the everyday girl. Although I would like to describe myself as someone who wears what she wants when she wants, I must confess that I am still a teenager who is affected, sometimes deeply, by what people think of me. I have toyed with wearing "creepy" things, but have been afraid of being seen as a typical "anti-society teen." I feel like the hints of (i'm getting slightly annoyed at myself for not being able to come up with a synonym) creepiness aren't overbearing, but instead interesting and definitely something I would be able to incorporate into my style. Plus I can afford it - did I say that? cinderknock@gmail.com

This collection includes some really excellent pieces I'm excited to get my fingers on (that lace cardigan included)! In fact, it will be the first Go International collection I actually purposefully come out to Target for. Thanks, Target, for being so awesssssome. You too, Rodarte!

I've always liked lace tights, but never could find a good-looking pair but these are pretty nice and I might actually get them! Plus that mustard-yellow color of the cardigan really stands out against the black, but still fits because it looks a bit lacy so it fits with everything else.

And nice graphic! Is that Elvis in it?

Okay, so I'm really looking forward to the Rodarte for Target line because I actually can't afford actual designer clothes, but Target is coming to the rescue!

I really want a dress from the line, but I don't like to be specific. I honestly think it's funner to go to a store and shop, and decide, rather than having a specific thing in mind. ;D

About two years ago i got my first elle magazine, but what really got me into fashion was Rodarte. I am entranced by the materials they use, and the way they piece together their clothes so carefully and beautifully. Every piece they make is a collage of everything i find inspiring. Their line for Target is a less expensive, but equally as fabulous rendition of what i would make, were i so talented.

I have put every piece on my christmas list, with the hopes of receiving at least one.

I'm really excited for the whole line. I love the pink items you posted earlier today, since I'm like a pink gremlin, I eat pink for breakfast. But when I originally heard about the line, I was really excited for
-the beige lace-pattern t-shirt with the bow on it. I also have a uncontrollable fetish for bows.
-The denim jacket because it's a
basic, I need one, ad I love the subtle braiding on the bottom.
-the sheer-lace nude slip dress with the bows on the top. Again with the bows...
I just heard of Rodarte, but what I love about the line is that it has girly, unique, different, and inexpensive for the budget-consious people like me who what to look different than the Aber-zombies in town. I love the line because it's girly! All things floral, pink, lace, and flowy is all things Shariki, and I need some more Rodarte in my life. I have been definetly hinting to my mom to buy me some stuff by them for Xmas since I'm broke:)

I have been dying for a mustard yellow piece. However much I have been thrifting I couldn't find anything appealing. When I saw the collection the cardigan was the first thing that truly spoke to me (no really). I think it's funny that I just saw this on your blog today after I was looking over the collection earlier today. I guess life works in mysterious ways.

I love all the party dresses as well, the leopard print dress reminds me of the vintage 60's one I have in my Etsy store right now which I would be keeping if it fit me.

I adore Rodarte and am so happy that they are making their talents available to a more mainstream cliental. Kudos to the sisters for making that happen! I was in total awe a few months ago when I went into Barneys for the first time ever and saw some of their dresses in person. No matter how many pictures I had seen of the shows I didn't comprehend their amazing artistry until seeing it in person.

BTW, Tavi you have some major artistic abilities and I can't wait to see what comes of them in the future, I am expecting something amazing! I'm gonna keep my eye on you!

I am really excited about the leopard print things in their collection (especially the bow belt, I would wear that ALL OF THE TIME). I also am in love with the black dress with the bow shoulders which is sooooo incredibly cute!
I think that they did an amazing job with making their collection for target relevant to their collections outside of target, and the clothes for target definitely don't look cheap!

I am quivering with anticipation for the arrival of this much awaited answer to my fashion prayers!! Rodarte has been on my radar since their inclusion in the kate bosworth editorial for vogue that also included proenza schouler [also faves!!] Ever since that day I have been consistently astounded by the envelope pushing twosome. I think what i love so much about them is that they aren't your stereotypical fashion phenoms...it doesn't appear to be about creating the "next big thing" and yet that is exactly what they do. With collections that could include tags such as goth, vintage, sixties, deconstructed, tailored...all some of my favorite words!!...I am so pleased that they have allowed some of their magic to be available to the general public. Good luck Kate and Laura and thank you!!

I am very excited about the ribcage dress with the black and white long-sleeved tee. I love it because I'm an anatomy geek, I love x-rays, and I have loved black and white striped tops since I was 15. I also love Ruth Gordon, and I love that she was part of the inspiration for the line (via Rosemary's Baby). I also love that this collaboration is with Target because I really do love Target. Where else could one buy seminal fashion pieces, My Little Ponies, toaster waffles and a trash can all at once?

Why am I excited for the Rodarte for Target collection?

Truthfully, I’m not. But back'up a sec, hear me out! I'm from Australia... What's that got to do with anything, you may ask? Well, we're 8 months behind in fashion and I’m cynical that the collaboration is ever going to reach my shores. I aim to be "unique" but mainstream-ism always gobbles me up. R4T, garments have a wild side to them whilst still playing on feminism. I love all the looks, heck I would even wear the pantyhose and underwear out in public...maybe, okay maybe not. In other words: Fresh, Unique, Original, Confident, Chic!

Sorry, this turned out to be an essay, but cut to the chase: I would be grateful to have an item that has not even be released in my country, to be fashion forward, and not to be mainstream – well until word gets out about R4T in Australia ;)

Rodarte.....a three syllable word that brings music to my ears!! When I heard Rodarte would jump on the band wagon and have an affordable line at Target I immediately scribbled in "Rodarte for Target!" under December 20, 2009 in my school planner. I honestly didn't need to stalk the internet hype- I just knew it would be amazing because it is, after all, designed by history's coolest pair since Simon and Garfunkel :D

What am I most looking forward to? Hard to say, but... probably... the tulle skirts so that I can embrace my inner princess any day of the year (without facing the everyday scrutiny of wearing my Halloween costume)!

When Sunday rolls around I will without a doubt be at Target's doorstep waiting to get my hands on some serious treasures!!

I absolutely LOVE the Rodarte for Target line...well as much as I've been able to see online and believe me I've been searching. I have called more local Target store to see if and when they're getting the line in everyday and they always say "Well we're SUPPOSED to get it in be we don't really know..." AAAHHHH. No help.

But anyway the reason I love the line is I looooove Rodarte but it's waaaay too expensive for me, so this is a way I could wear Rodarte without... well being homeless. My favorite piece is the yellow lace cardigan, so I reaaaally want to win! This color is amazing and I NEEEEED it. Well anyway, before I sound way too desperate I'll stop while I'm ahead...

PICK ME! (:

It was always the cardigan, in mustard yellow. The leopard print dress sashays by ... HEYYYYY... Yellow sits crouched in the corner on a navy blue crushed velvet chair, eyes sly, mouth warm. Mustard comforts, but the lace wraps coldly around my shoulders like an older rich aunt. I will wear it with scads of cloying musky perfume. Mine.

I'm excited about this collaboration because Rodarte really bring an individual feel to the world of fashion which I sometimes think can be a little lacking, and it's really wonderful to know that it's filtering down to shops like Target so that everyone really has the ability to get a taste of this wonderful label (without having a huge amount of money). It's so exciting to know I can have a part of one of my favourite labels! I'm also loving the vintage feel, but at the same time how they've brought their line into the modern age, with some of the beautiful lace and the colours they've chosen, I just think it's completely fabulous!

Well, the Rodarte line at Target gives me an aerial feeling when I think about it, really. Wearing the dresses makes me feel like everyone knows I am wearing something with meaning. And, at the same time, it makes me feel like I don't really need to care, as long as I'm happy.

I hope more designs come out. Thanks.

Hmmm So many choices!
That's what I like about the collection. You can mix and match everything!
And everything is so pretty and shiny. I really like it.

My 3 fave pieces: the lace print tan dress, the navy skirt with tule and the yellow cardigan. It's not cause you're giving it away, it's just cause i'm in a navy/yellow phase!

Oh, I loved the bow belts too! :)

I am EXTREMELY excited for the leopard print bow belt! The reason being that I have an event to attend for a scholarship I won in January, and I need the perfect accessory for my little black Calvin Klein dress. I am not Rodarte's biggest fan, but the xray-ish skeletony-ish dress turns me on a little bit...maybe enough to make me change my mind about ck dress LOLOMGLMAFOBBQ!!!!!!!!!1111

The thing I've been most excited about with this collaboration is the prospect of walking through my local target listening to people try and figure out how to say "Rodarte". Since we all know that middle America will find the funniest ways to butcher such a beautiful word.

In all seriousness, the best thing about this collaboration is the Mulleavy sisters showing the world what they can do as designers and as fashion folk. So many times in this world, fashion is misunderstood. And if someone takes a look at something like the sequined skull dress (my personal favorite) and then looks at one of the gorgeous Rodarte dresses from Spring 2009, they begin to fantasize and draw connections between the two and see the creativity that goes into both of them. From that little spark of fantasy could lead a whole new revolution in fashion's future.

That's all. :)

I catch my breath just glancing at the blush pink slip dress. Its just so dainty and vintage and perfect. I love the fabrics and if the color doesn't look good on me... I'm going to wear it anyways.

I'm also thrilled with the yellow leopard bow belt and the lace cardigans - both which will fit seamlessly into everyday life (making it just that much more fabulous).

First of all i think what Kate and Laura do for Rodarte is PHENOMENAL its exraordinary and for them to make this collection for target is fantastic and its like giving everybody an affordable piece to wear from what they do on the runways and just the whole collection is really fun and funky i love the tulle skirts to the sequin ribcage dress.

I think it's amazing that Rodarte is collaborating with Target to bring their innovation and creativity to a larger audience. I guess what I'm excited for the most from this collection is that it will give more people the opportunity to express themselves in new ways- and that's something I think the world can't get enough of (:

I love how every piece can stand on its own and also how brilliantly they can all come together.

I adore the lace mesh tulle slip dress (in mustard!) and the leopard dress with the genius bows at the back... Perfect for dressing down in a very dressed up way (yaknowatimsayin?). Just Gaaawjuss. But what I would imagine myself wearing every single day would be the mustard cardigan+navy lace tulle skirt+Cut-Out Knee-Highs. Nomnomnom.

Being a film fanatic, what I really like about this collection is that Kate and Laura pulled their inspiration from some of my favorite films. I can only imagine a film styled entirely in Rodarte. Oh my!

I had a dream last night that I was at Target shopping the Rodarte collection. I was so excited, I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off. Then, as I was leaving, I remembered the whole reason I went was to get the nude dress with the bows on the shoulders. And then I woke up. Without the dress. It was horrible.

ahhh this is such an amazing giveaway. you're such a fortunate girl to be given such a fantastic opportunity with rodarte and target! :) i'd have to say my top three items i'm most looking forward to are:

1) lace tights. they're absolutely gorgeous. sexy yet whimsical.
2) any of the lace cardigans (probably either the tan or the mustard). they're genius and so delicate. i've been so obsessed with lace recently. (and i have some mustard tights that need wearing so the cardigan would work with it nicely ;) )
3) the lace and tulle skirt in navy. simply lace + tulle = heaven.and navy is one of my musts for this winter.

i'm counting down the days. :)

oh my goodness... the opportunity to get my poor college student hands on anything knit and fuzzy and soft by Rodarte would be so exciting! My fave part is that they brought their signature style/item into their Target collaboration: the crazily delicate, perfect knit stuff (like, yes, the mustard cardigan). So many of the other collaborations have been nice, but haven't had the designer's stamp all over them..or they've looked/been mad cheap quality (Ericson Beamon, Sigerson Morrison, Carlos Falchi, I'm looking at you). It's so nice to have a collaboration that looks like the quality might be even close to the "real deal".

Hey there Tavilicious. How cool that you get to be involved on something as big as Rodarte x Target! Though mostly it's cool that you don't have to fight other girls for the clothes this Sunday. I'm most excited about the sleevless dress with the big bows on the shoulders. And the knee highs. And the leopard dress. I'm excited about everything, actually, but mostly those three. And the lace cardi.

See, Target's designer collaborations are important to me because I would not be able to satisfy my fashion desires without them, unless I magically started pooping gold bars. But I definitely don't foresee that happening, so thank goodness for Target. I've been really antsy about the Rodarte line ever since I heard about it back in September and I can't wait to see the pieces in person!

Thanks Tavi!

I love that Kate and Laura came out to New York with only a couple of samples, and here they are making it big. I must say, I was quite excited for the sunglasses and that robin egg blue dress.I also LOVED the tulle scarf, because I'm quite crazy about tulle. I've always been atracted to that kind of whisical classy kind of style.
And just to wear something like that to school? Students would look at me funny like I have a growth on my face. They're so used to the pajama/abercrombie wearing girls they won't know how to react. And THAT would be the highlight of my day! A fourteen year old girl breaks away from whats expected and comes to school clad in mixmatched patterns and penny loafers!

Yes, I realize that was a bit long... but I'm known for writing long essays! haha

I see some rodarte rhymes up in this place when everyone knows they only proper phrase to rhyme it with is "albino party." Screws up the rhythm a little it works.

Anywho, I am really excited for the skeleton piece that is based on their s/s 09 collection - the one with the ribs. I have this secret dream of being Jack Skellington from Nightmare Before Christmas, before the myspace kids usurped that movie. You know, the ones who have hoodies with pictues of the movie on it from Hot Topic? That dress would be a subtle way to reference the movie while simultaneously being a giant "fuck you" to all the assholes (except for those who moved on to twilight; must find diff. dress to combat that) plus it'll look bitchin' on me. And I know jack skellington isn't really a skeleton but the reference is there.
But because this is for the mustard sweater I will just say that I am excited to eat sandwiches without worring about spilling mustard on myself. Cute clothes that make eating easier are my life.

My name is Devyn and I reside in ca-na-da, however this does not stop me from absolutely loving and waiting ever so anxiously for the Rodarte for Target line. Ever since I started reading your blog, Tavi, and I was first introduced to Rodarte, I was waiting for them to do a collaboration with an affordable store. So, what am I excited for? I am excited to be able to afford clothing by high fashion designers, I am excited that many others will be able to do the same, and mostly, I am excited that the collection actually resembles clothing that could be presented on the runway. Many designers who collaborate with stores such as Target do not present pieces that could be seen in one of their actual collections. For Rodarte, I believe it is a whole other story. These clothes are just as amazing as those being designed for thousands of dollars, and it seems as though they were designed for the runway, however they were simply pulled from the catwalk and placed on racks in Target (when I was reading that in my head, I was pronouncing the "g" as "j", kinda french if ya know what I mean). Anyway, I have blabbed on for quite some time, but one more thing I adore is how the clothes were based on three very classic movies: Harold and Maude, Bonnie and Clyde, and Rosemary's Baby.

If you just read that chunk of babble, I admire your perseverance (that was probably the wrong word to put there, oh well, I dun no).

honestly, and i dont want u to think im being untruthful, BUT i looooove cardigans, as they are versatile pieces you can mix and match things with, like a cardigan with a floral skirt, an interesting patterened shirt and a hat, or fedora. That cardigan was one of my favorites while i was looking through the collection, however, i think the whole collection is quite ingenius, and very much my kinda style, making it near impossible for me to pick any faves. I love the collection in general, but some things did stand out to me:
1.well for one the mustard cardingan you are giving away
2.the swiss dot dress in blue is calling my name!
3. the slip dress in black was also quite interesting
as for accessories, i liked all the bow belts (i love narrower belts around the waist, and I LOVEEE bows!)
i like the tights, the doc martins and the white sunglasses
oooo i just saw the leapord dress, like that too
mannn too much to pick from
sigh, fashion

Excited because....
1) lingerie and lace never looked so good.

2) I have a Target near me, so acquiring fashionable garments will be both an easy and enjoyable trip. (cause seriously, as opposed to the hellish lighting of Wal*Mart and clusterfuck of Forever 21, Target is nice. Soothing. A trip to your therapist, but closer. Cheaper. And you can occasionally walk out of the door with the giant kind of "baby" carrots that are perfect for biting into half and asking, "Really. What is up Doc."
3) My carrot diatribe may have distracted me, but seriously. Lace. And leather. Leather. That sounds like a bad 80's song, but really. Especially in the above-the-waist photo you have in your post (the left-most one), it's all "granny-transvestite-Hell's Angels-sex."
4) As a member of the fairer-haired .... hair-group? .... I've never purchased anything yellow/mustard/orange/red/sky-blowing-up-in-beauty-at-6-freaking-am colored. And would like to (ahem. LOVE.) try a Rodarte piece out for my yellow virginity-taking.

All the best. k_r_tucker@yahoo.com

I am most excited about the idea of having the opportunity to own a piece of the Mulleavy sister's creative genius in an inexpensive, completely wearable and versatile package. Specifically, i'm excited for the lambskin/mohair vest because i feel like it could make for really exciting texture play when layered over other knits and scarves and the mustard lace cardigan because the color is gorgeous and i also feel like it will be an amazing layering piece. Oh and the blue lace dress because i feel like it's a really accurate interpretation of the Rodarte aesthetic for the everyday customer in its usage of different fabrics in the same color.

Hello Tavi,

I am the very most excited for the sequined rib-cage dress in the Rodarte for Target line. It looks like a piece that I could throw on and instantly look really cool... Actually, I think all the pieces are the type that, when worn, would make oneself look really cool. Including the mustard yellow cardigan (I get brownie points for saying that, right?). But really, it's super cute and is just the loveliest of colours (no, I didn't spell that wrong... I'm Canadian).

It would be terrific to get an e-mail saying "Georgia, you've won" very soon

I'm completely enamored of both the mustard cardigan (as it is my favorite color and amazing) and the nude-y/beige slip dress with the mesh top. I nearly had a heart attack when I found out Rodarte was doing a Target collab, because I knew everything would be inimitable and impeccably designed. It truly feels like they put, oh I don't know, EFFORT and TASTE into this collection, as opposed to a few other, nameless designers who clearly exerted no time or talent in their target lines. But I digress. I feel that Rodarte is achieving the pinnacle of what the Target collabs are trying to do, and bringing "designer" clothing to level that is accessible to people without a black AmEx.

And if win, I will wear my Rodarte everyday for a least a week.

the most exciting thing about this is the step it takes for the public. Rodarte, being such a respectable name, reaching out its arms to everyone just says a lot about The Sisters. Not only are they concerned about aesthetics, but it shows that they are also concerned about ALL women being able to look chic, regardless of the situation and struggle people of today are involved in.

For the Rodarte for Target collection, I’m most excited about the extreme creativity that is on display. The individual pieces have been beautifully conceived, but then when they are combined in an outfit, there is so much to enjoy – from the silhouettes, to the chosen fabrics, the textures, the colours, the fabric weights, the lines, the details, and the proportions.

From the three films that inspired the collection, Rodarte have drawn out a number of powerful contradictions. From Rosemary’s Baby we have the youth, femininity and prettiness of Mia Farrow combined with something much darker – which in the garments is expressed through black stockings that have a floral, lacey theme running through them. It can also be seen in the Leopard Print Dress, with black bows running down the back, reminding one of the vertebrae in a spine.

From Harold and Maude we get a contrast between a gentle hint of nostalgia, and a bitter-sweet sadness, which the design duo absorb into their collection through the use of grounded, earthy tones, and a certain sense of structure that was a large part of 1970s fashion.

And finally we have Bonnie and Clyde, with it’s juxta-positioning of excitement, adventure, and sexuality, with the darker themes of criminality and violence. Rodarte cleverly reference this source of inspiration through their use of 1930s-style belted cardigans, lace, black gloves, antique floral prints, and a short woolly jacket.

So you can see what I’m talking about when I say “extreme creativity”! With an unquestioned talent, Rodarte have managed to create a unique, thoroughly cohesive collection, that beautifully reflects their sensitive observations of three favourite films. A fine achievement.

But mainly I'm just excited for the lace tights and cut out socks. I'm kinda addicted to tights. My blog probably shows that. haha. it is so hard to pinpoint the thing that I am MOST excited about for the rodarte for target line. I am a HUGE rodarte fan (to the point where I have had dreams about attending there fashion shows and owning some of their spectacular and to-die-for pieces.)
being an australian teenanger, whose only income is the pay from her once a week very part-time job, and pocket money that I still receieve from my father, I don't exactly have the funds to feed my Rodarte obsession.

so....to cut to the chase (ah so cliche!) ...what i am probably most excited about the rodarte for target line is that i can actually afford to own a piece of rodarte clothing, which has been designed by the fabulous kate and laura. although i am sure that the target line isn't as luxurious and high-end as the actual rodarte label, all the pieces seem to still have the characteristic flair and iconic rodarte personality that all their collections seep with.

well that was a very long and drawn out explanation...sorry. you're probably yawning and nodding off to sleep by now!

i better stop typing before this turns into an essay! thanks!!!

Rodarte is probably one of my favorite designers. I'm really excited about this line at Target because it means that I'll actually be able to access some of the awesome. I'm pretty excited about the sequin rib-cage dress for reasons I cannot really explain besides that it's awesome, and I could imagine wearing it in a lot of different ways. Also the swiss dot dress, mostly because it reminds me of The Sound of Music and kind of makes me want to dance around in a field of awesome. The cardigan is freaking adorable and would probably look great with a number of dresses. Overall, I'm just very excited for the entire collection, it's great to see such cool pieces in a price range I can afford.

reasons i'm excited for RodartexTarget:

2: i can't wait to get those cut out knee highs in tan/peach. planning to buy two pairs just so four of my limbs can be graced in RODARTE simultaneously.

For me, its the black dress. the dreaminess of the a-line reminds me of mia's role in Rosemary's Baby. The black lace makes it dark and cynical while also being feminine and beautiful. I would feel so special in this dress, as I'm sure mia would feel the same

I deeply need the leopard print dress. Bows + leopard = magic.

I am excited because i never spend money on clothes and i loooove fashion so this would be amazing!!! Mustard yellow is a faaaabulous color and cardigans are the best!!!

I have been watching that video nonstop. The print ads alone were not convincing enough. Seeing the dresses in action made me go all grabby hands!!

I am dying over the blue swiss dot "Cinderella" esque number as well as the tights and belts with waist bows.

Anticipating photos of you in the cardie! It's hard to tell what the texture is really like from any photos I see.

i'm terribly excited about the leopard jacket by rodarte for target. i think it will bring out the rawrrrr in me!
i'm also loooooving the lace on everything, especially the cardigans. i don't wear much color, and would like to wear more. oh and mustard actually looks good on me! (the color, please. definitely not the food. it doesn't look good on anybody, except for a veggie dog...)

Small elephant children, all of whom we know by name, run amock on the streets of our dark western towns, begging for Rodarte for target. What small cloven feet, bearing only canvas slip-ons could dream to run up to racks bearing the fruit of design heaven? It is only now these dreams are possible, that we may wrap our electric limbs in layers of tulle and painted lace, that our vertebrae may be lined with leopard bows, that such a meager spending allowance can afford the materialized dreams of artists crowned with the us fellowship coronet. I anticipate the arrival of the line to my own local store with the giddy excitment of a child trying to fall asleep on christmas eve, as it seems to be one of the best holiday treats of all.

The thing I'm most excited about would have to be accessibility to clothes from creative, innovative designers.

So much about fashion is accessible, in that you can watch runway shows and look at collections online, and form an opinion about those collections. but actually owning the clothes isn't as easy. That's why diffusion lines are so magical, you can get a piece of something you love and admire.

However, it seems like a lot of diffusion lines are just cheapened versions of the designer's aesthetic, and the RodartexTarget line is one of the first ones I've seen that feels sincere.

So I guess I'm most excited about the sincerity of the collection (if that makes sense).

Umm, first of all, hello--mustard! The unsung hero of the classic American one-hand meal, a.k.a., the hotdog. Forget about ketchup, or catsup, whatever your english teahcer's cup 'o tea is. The mustard-lace cardigan is like what naughty elves would whip up just to perplex good ole saint nick--simultaneously naughty and nice. But, enough about the holidays, that's SO last year. What about those amazing black lace tights? And the denim jakcet. Ahh, let me wax supreme on the denim jacket--an iconic piece that every girl would "So-You-Think-You-Can Dance-to-the-Death-to" just to get the chance to slip their arms into this little Rodarte wonder.

Why do I love this Rodarte for Target collection? Well, it's expressive, moody, dark, creative, uplifting and personal--all things that the public school systems in America (in general) teach you not to be.

I, for one, am so greatful that amazingly talented designers have seen the value in teaming with a mainstream/affordable retail chain can be.

The leopard dress with the bows is radtarded, and it will be nice to get a line that looks so high end at target prices. The only thing cuter then that mustard cardigan would be a a dress made out of living kittens.

so here's a sonnet i composed in honor of the line:

rodarte for target is so damn cool
i can't wait 'til sunday when it comes out
i'll be the envy of my whole high school
my classmates will surely tear their hair out
but sadly, i just do not have the cash
i need to buy the entire awesome line
my teeth i thought that i would grind and gnash
because that cardigan could not be mine
but when i saw this contest on your site
i knew that i might have some hope at last
i decided that a poem i would write
and so i did, and posted it up fast
so now i must trust to your clemency
when choosing winners, to consider me.

I am so excited for this collection, so far I'm loving everything in all the photos...but the piece I can't wait to get my paws on is the ribcage dress. It speaks to my inner goth! jjudy@rocketmail.com

The lace and tulle skirt (in navy, until I see what shade the mustard is in person). It'll fit in really well with my wardrobe color- and style-wise, and the tulle on top is such a lovely detail that'll really pop.

I know this is a second piece that I really love (and I hope this isn't cheating), but the lace cardigan will be perfect for spring, summer, and early fall over a sundress or camisole, or now over a long-sleeved shirt or dress. I can picture exactly the dress I'm planning to wear it over... it's plum, cap-sleeved, above-knee length, that has a fitted knit bodice and an acrylic satin A-line skirt (as an aside, my great-grandmother, Florence Eiseman invented the A-line dress).

My email is brenna_levitin@gmail.com.

Hope your finals go well!

Truthfully, I'm really excited for that light blue dress with the lace top. This dress is such a dreamy combination of 50's era clothing and whimsy. I think wearing it would feel like I jumped right out of The Notebook and straight into the arms of Ryan Gosling. I am also really excited for the mustard colored cardigan. I really feel like a nice large and lacy cardigan has been seriously lacking from my wardrobe.

Rodarte sisters are one of my favourite designers. Unfortunatley, I live up north (aka Canada), eh, so I don't have a Target anywhere on the surface of this country. But yea, I've been cutting back to save up for uni, so I guess this is good, right? (what? that didnt make sense) Anyways I love the Sequin Rib Cage Dress because I've never had an x-ray before and i think thats what i would look like inside, and I wish i was skinny (chubbies ftw) =D (yellow cardigans also good tee hee). yeya peace out homeskillit =) im cool and will be cooler with that mustard cardigan. ssshhhhaaaa!

I'm also pretty upset because I dont live in the US, hence the ebay usage. I was in awe of the nude slip dress, it reminded me of their nude ballerina dresses from ss08.

The minute I heard about the Rodarte for Target line I could hardly contain my glee. All of my friends are sick of hearing me go on and on about it.
The thing I am most excited for would have to be the sequined rib cage dress. I've visualized two main outfits for it. Both of which involve very high heels or platforms and a silver jacket. I cannot wait to have in my hands!

Ah! Finally, affordable fashion for the masses! Thank you, Target! Thank you, Rodarte! And thank you, Tavi, for this awesome giveaway.

I'm totally excited about the bows, lace, bows, tulle, bows, sequins and yes, THE BOWS! This Rodarte collection for Target is just the right mix! It's ballerina meets biker chick. It's soft and feminine, yet it's tough and independent. The slip dress in black (with bows on the shoulders) worn with lace tights and army boots is the absolute epitomy of this collection, for me at least. Needless to say, that is my favorite piece. I hope to snag one at our local Target, that is, if I'm even lucky. (Must remember to wake up early and bring poking sticks to ward off other girls. Hehehe!) I never win anything but maybe, who knows, this could be it. "Please, please, please... Let me get what I want this time..." (Thank you Morrisey for such awesome lyrics that convey my emotion at this very moment) MORE POWER TO THE STYLE ROOKIE! ;)

As a big horror freak, I am incredibly excited about the fact that one of the inspirations behind the new line is the ultimate horror classic, Rosemary's baby. I honestly, could never in my wildest dreams, imagine that a line by Rodarte - no less! - would actually be inspired - at least partially - by something that speaks so closely to me. I like to compare my passion for everything horror, to that of a fashion blogger for fashion. And I do love fashion, but what really inspired to write me here was the idea of putting these two worlds together. I guess I feel included, hahaha.
The black dress, around 1:00 min in the video. It is just amazing. It reminds me of being a character in a very creepy movie (or book. I would have had the model have her hair up on a really high bun though. The long hair seems like a distraction from the greatness of the dress, in my opinion. Plus, with her hair up it would look even creepier, and in y books creepier is better. (Not that the other pieces i.e. the cardigan aren't equally as awesoe, but you did ask for out favourite).

Mustard...is my favorite color. It appeals to the grandmother not so deep inside me.

And yet, the Cut-Out Knee-Highs in tan and peach apply to my scrappy side! Its like I'm six again.

And yet again, the most appealing thing about the collection has to be its connection to the internet. As much as I love clothes (do I ever), the internet is my first love. Seeing a blogger being acknowledged IRL (!!!11!1) and the joy and creativity of the Mulleavy sisters combined with the offbeat creativity of your personality is the absolute best part of this collection.

I saw the collection in a Tempe, AZ Target (I thought the release date was December 20???????) and then felt sad because I am a poor college student who was only there to buy things from the $1 section (stop buying textbooks start buying Rodarte????????)!

kitschandcandy said...

What am I not excited about? I've been counting down the days! Rodarte for Target is inspiring in so many ways. Their pieces each feel fully unique like you've searched for hours through a dusty vintage store and found that perfect treasure you know you'll wear for years and all the other girls will die of envy. With this collection high fashion loving girls get a step closer to living their runway dreams.
Besides, to quote the genius Yves St. Laurent "I love bows."

now if we can just convince Mr. McQueen to make us some Armadillos...that would be the icing on the cake :)

This is what I'm excited about:
in almost all cases when a big designer collaborated with a huge mass producing mass selling store, they seem to never be brave enough to bring their actual spirit into the collection, and so, the consumers are basically left with a pretty main stream boring collection with a hot designer name on the label.

I'm really happy that this collection feels not only adventurous and cool but also retain more Rodarte then Target spirit in it.

i lost my breath a little when i saw the jean jacket and shorts with the braided detailing. somehow they remind me of chloe sevigny in both gummo and boys don't cry. on the other hand, i've been looking for the perfect girly knee-highs to juxtapose against the edginess of my engineer boots, and i love how delicate these ones are. overall, i suppose i'm most attracted to the items i feel i would probably wear daily. this is kinda lamely safe of me, but that's just how i do.

I am so excited about the rodarte for target line. The prices are so amazing. I love fashions and I have many subscriptions to fashion magazines, but it's hard to see this amazing outfit and see that it 3,000. Why can't everyday average people, meaning those who don't spend $100 on a a t-shirt, be fashionable too? The pice im most excited about it DEFINITELY the slip dress. I want it in black, and also the belts with bows. There a nice way to add touches to a simple dress. Oh and also the vest. Both very haute right now, although I don't follow trends unless I want to. A piece I was looking forward towards purchasing is the black slip dress with the bows on the shoulders. Rodarte sisters, please tell a fellow Ghibli nerd that was an ode towards Kiki's Delivery Service even though I am completely aware anything Ghibli in this particular Target line is irrelevant.
And yeah, basically using Jamie Bochert in their look book was enough to get me to support this collection. I'm glad she's getting work.

I love the use of lace and tulle and the use of more sheer fabrics in general. I'm loving the way the collection, to me, feels like I felt during the transition from middle school to high school... Like a juxtaposition between wanting to stay a good girl, sweet and innocent with clean nails and good grades, and the need to rebel and shock my elders and 'take control', I guess you could say... And I feel that the dual-personality factor is something everyone has all their life, and this collection represents that for me. I really feel the 'little old lady' pieces in the more aged looking colors speak to my well-mannered, old-fashioned more proper side while still being current and pieces like the black tulle dress or leopard dress speak to my bad-ass side while still being timeless (i have a vision of being 60 and wearing the leopard dress and too much lipstick and oh, is it good). I KNOW IT SOUNDS CLICHE BUT THATS HOW I FEEL ABOUT IT OK. ok!

also I would die to own that tulle dress, I'm drooling and I live in canada so i am le sad. but damn is it good, the lace cardigans are right up my alley too ESPECIALLY THAT BEIGE ONE, good golly. and I want to move to the U.S. now. for Target. and icees.

sorry for writing an essay and have a nice day!

Well... if it's not a bit anticlimactic, I liked the printed tee the most. I do have fun getting all gussied up (I can really never use that phrase too often, forgive me innocent bystanders)but the outfits I end up liking most are usally simple, feminine, and in colors that make me feel kind of relaxed. That generally leads to me schleppin' around happy and free in various shades of gray, but it's still my favorite color, as it was before old lady hair and cigarette ash gave it a bad name... But anywho- Yeah, I'm pretty essited about the Rodarte line because of its grounded softness- it's like for your cool best friend: not too tame but not tryin' to be all lame & cool. I'm totally down.
And (don't be creeped!) it was cool seeing your video & hearing your voice. love reading what you have to say :]
