Rodarte for Target Giveaway

I would like to announce a Rodarte for Target giveaway! Party time!
Here's how it works:

1. Write in the comments what you're most excited about for the Rodarte for Target line. It could be a specific piece, or just something about the feel of the collection you like, or anything. I've made comments anonymous-inclusive so anyone can enter. Leave your email address in the comments too so we can get your mailing address if you win.

2. I will pick 40-45 winners (but don't try to make the answer suitable to my tastes or anything. That's no fun!) We will email the winners and the pieces will be sent out.

The giveaway item is this mustard lace cardigan I said I would wear every day if I could in the collaboration video.

It's also here:I haven't taken any pictures of myself in it but it's super soft and nice to stare at when you're bored during gym WHAT WHO SAID THEY ARE BORED DURING GYM NOT ME.

Now get cracking!

EDIT: I will stop taking entries at midnight Central Standard Time on Saturday, December 19th.

EDIT AGAIN: The contest has ended, we will be emailing the winners this week. Any new entries will be ignored. Thank you to everyone who participated!

EDIT AGAIN AGAIN: Please do not email me about winning. I am basing my choices off the comments alone, emails will be ignored.

Because of the new law, I am supposed to let you know that I receieved compensation and pieces from the Rodarte for Target collection for my collaboration with Target.

Hi Tavi.

This is a very versatile line...i mean most are and as high fashion and unique as it loox -totally awesome for me - once you break the looks down EVERY ONE of the pieces can be rocked for everyday wear & every night wear...everything can be mixed and matched too...like if you put the yello cardigan over the black dress...or the black sheer lace cardigan over the yello skit and wore cowboy boots...idk. giveaway or not? This line is drawing me to target! or dare i say it? Tarjhey? Heey! lol

I have been waiting for the Rodarte line for Target for so long now, I can't wait!! I'm most excited for the tulle pieces, especially the dresses. I think that the clothing is versatile yet fashionable and fresh at the same time. I love the girly theme of it with the lace, tulle, and bows and these elegant pieces mixed in with leopard print, slip pieces, and bright colors! I love it all and it's in time for Christmas..perfect!

i've been super stoked about the rodarte for target collection since i first heard of it. i have a big girl job, but rodarte isn't a line i can really afford. the rodarte for target collection is a chance to own a little something from two great designers. i love the lace cardigan in every color and the little slip dress with bows on the shoulder and leopard print bow belt! everything is better with ruffles and bows! this collection is so sweet, mixed with some serious edge. its so well designed and i think it still stays very true to laura and kate.

thanks!

I LOVE Rodarte! I only got into fashion recently and I remember seeing a picture of Kirsten Dunst wearing a Rodarte dress (the one which looks kinda like silvery bandages that have been wrapped round into an AMAZING mini) in this magazine. I then looked them up and fell in love (sorry for the dramatics). Unfortunately I then saw the prices which were a LITTLE out of my budget :(
I'm 13 and a half so I get an allowance of 40 pounds a month meaning that it would take me FOREVER to save up. I also LOVE the cobweb-like tights but those are a little too expensive aswell. (sigh)And the jumpers! They are amazing aswell. So yeah. please please please please please please please please please please please please please pick me!

I want the leopard dress! It looked so good on Dakota Fanning in Teen Vogue.

I love Rodarte and I am so excited! The prices seem pretty reasonable (sometimes I feel like the designer collaborations are ridic at Target).

The blue lace dress- I love the neckline. Oh and the navy blue tulle skirt... But mostly the fact that I'll be able to own RODARTE without paying what I usually make in a year (I babysit, I'm 14).

I'm looking forward to dressing like a girl who's ready to have lunch at the Ritz, but go on an impromptu road trip the next day. It's like this haphazard mixture of your grandmother's era of classiness, and then a heavy dose of badass. The color, the fabric, the details... It's the stuff of dreams. And I have been dreaming of it for MONTHS now!

Uh so I might have gotten a sneak peak at the Rodarte for Target collection this summer while interning with a fashion mag and my first thoughts were amazing styling/i think my must-have piece is the mustard lace so obviously I had to enter.

I am most excited about all the tulle coming back in a way that isn't in your face sassy 80s but more like everyday pretty and slightly creepy doll.

hello tavi :)
I'm madly excited for the Rodarte for Target Line, because first off, I love Rodarte. Their tailoring skills are wondrous, and their pieces have a dark whimsy to them that I truly adore. I remember seeing those thin, sculpted skeleton dresses from an old collection of theirs, and was amazed by how they had formulated their knowledge of the female figure and of anatomy to make such gorgeous pieces.
Their pieces are incredibly original, and match my quirkiness (like the signature hole-filled fishnets that look like they were made with such care, and remind me of wire and ballerinas and the punk movement from the 1970's). I think they're brought all of their signature qualities of the Rodarte line to the target collection, but with the Target collection, they are affordable (so I can actually buy them instead of lusting after their pieces in fashion magazines and dreaming of a day I could own something by them). It's for this reason for example that I'm excited about the sequin skeleton dress. It blends punk, 60's glamour, and this sort of scientific feeling (because of the ribccage) that is all over fantastic. The sequins make it seem ethereal, and I also love how the print of the shoulderbones resemble wings. It is something that if I owned, I'd treasure forever. Even if I grew out of it, it would rest in my room like a treasure from the fantastical underworld.

By the way, I should comment more on here, I sincerely apologize. I just have to say that I admire your quirky style and your posts-it's quite inspiring to me.

I am SO. INCREDIBLY. STOKED. for Rodarte at Target! I love how quirky the line is, and I'm more-so excited with how I can ACTUALLY AFFORD clothing that appeals to my... zany tastes. :] I'm mucho-grande excited for the Tulle Skirts and the Sequin Rib Cage Dress. It's impossible to fully verbalize my excitement. Just tape a sign to my back that says, "stereotypical clothes-obsessed girl" to my back and let me go out into the world sporting epic, and I mean EPIC clothing. <33

Where I live and go to school, wearing something new and out-of-the-ordinary is not really admired. But, nevertheless, I feel that clothing and dressing however you feel is a way of self expression- Rodarte is all over that like white on rice. It's invigorating that people are going to be able to enjoy it at an affordable price.

Thank you for being so uh-mazing, and to whoever gets the cardigans, rock that baby out! <33

I am most excited about those cardigans. 70's Mustard is one of my favorite colors. I almost cried when I was six and we moved to a new house that had mustard shag and my parents ripped it out. It was disgusting, and hiding beautiful wood floors, but still. It was so cool

the clothes the mulleavy sisters make look like some kind of evanescent floating magic that's chosen to sit on your body because it wants to- and might take flight any second. Their clothes remind me of swimming in a river where decaying leaves turn the water red, listening to punk rock while driving around with all the windows open in the cold, and exploring abandoned hospital buildings. Basically, these clothes remind me of how imagination and thinking outside the confines of every day life can allow you to experience life in ways you never thought possible. Pretentious as hayl, i know. BTW your blog is fun to read!

I am extremely excited about the launch of the Rodarte for Target line, I'm counting down the days till it comes out!! haha. But I absolutely adore the black lacey slip dress, it's the right amount of classy/sexy/cute all at the same time. ahhh, I seriously think i'm going to die when the line comes out (haha, or at least my wallet will) Kate and laura, and you are so lovely for doing this! :)

I am excited for it all! I absolutely love the entire collection and would wear anything from it for the rest of my life, even when I get old and wrinkly and it fits all weird. I adore Rodarte and admire the video that you made. I love all of the prints and the shapes of the clothing and wish that there were Targets where I live so I could go buy all of the Rodarte for Target pieces from the store. I am so excited for everything in the collection even if I can only look at it on the internet wishing for the cheetah print bows on the back of that amazing dress. Between the prints and the designs in general, I am so excited for the Rodarte For Target collection that I just cannot pick which one thing to be excited. Truth be told I love it all.

what i am most excited about in the rodarte for target line is, in fact, the mustard yellow lace cardigan. i adore the colour as it seems to make the very much pretty lace seem more edgy and wild, which i think is something rodarte is so good at; this juxtaposition between the feminine and the edgy. i suppose there is also the contrast between the fact that the collection is almost gothic in style, yet by using a more cheerful colour palette on this piece - and also several other pieces - it again ties in with the whole idea of contrasting opposites. i just think the piece is so perfect to as it really does reflect rodarte's usual style - using fine knits and fabrics in unusual contexts - and yet it doesn't seem too similar to the spider-web knit effect they've done in their main line, thus making the piece meet the demands of a high street audience, without making it feel like a copy of their main line. it really is a very wearable piece which still makes a statement in use of colour, texture and fabric.. i'm not surprised you'd wear it everyday!

im gutted that i live in the uk and have to go on ebay.com everyday to bid on rodarte for target pieces, i think it would be cool if either target or rodarte sell the collection online to international buyers too.. cause i know many people who do! but anyway, i've been a fan of the mustard cardigan for ages as it reminds me of cheese. yes, cheese.. i like cheese and the lacey fabric is beautiful.. a very odd and unique combination of the two which makes it very special.

dear tavi!

i don't know wether i'm still within that timeframe. i m in germany and right now i m too lazy/tired/cold to count the time difference... i ll just leave my comment anyway.

what i do like a lot about the collection is the combo of lace and tulle...it never occured to me that these two go together so well. i always liked the tulle and worked with it. and some time ago i discovered lace for myself. it always felt like a nasty good secret thing...the lace. but seeing now both of them together: makes me freak out in the inside. wearing the tulle together with the lace you can feel like a bad ballerina. the girl that always wanted to do ballet but was physically not supposed to because too tall or whatever. so now you can have the ballet feeling together with a little secret middlefinger to the perfect ballerinas in rosé... i m not sure if i explain it right..like the little punk ballerina that always felt it with her whole heart but was never let inside the ballet studio. thats what i see in the collection: the rebel ballerina.
uff...what a long comment..

kind regards, anne

I am most excited about the Cut-Out Knee-Highs in Tan/Peach and the yellow leopard lace bow dress! I really love legwear in general, and I like the peach-ness of the knee highs because it almost blends in with your skin tone, then with a band of white at the knee part. and the leopard dress is great because I don't usually like animal print but for some reason, it works and i absolutely love the length and the hem's shape at the bottom.

I won't start off by saying/typing "I think..." because I KNOW I really love this collection. I know I love that gorgeous mustard color, and the chicness of each piece in the Rodarte collection. Seriously if I had enough money I would go out this very second and buy all I could from Rodarte, but alas I don't so I settle for photo therapy, heh heh. Anyway I really love this collection and feel so happy Rodarte and you (Tavi) would bring your amazing fashion to us.

what isnt to be excited for in this line?! it's rodarte, for a start, and affordable for even better standards. i love dressing up and looking good, just for the sake of me and i don't care what other people think. i've made my own stuff and worn it which gave some people a laugh, but i knew that they could never even come close to 'working it' like i did. tavi, your blog has made me come out of my lazy im-in-high-school-lets-wear-a-cute-tee-and-dark-jeans-to-look-dressed-up days and back into the hey-ruffled-shirt-you'd-look-good-with-a-vest-on-top era. this collection will too.

SO PUMPED! for Rodarte for Target. The whole spirit of the line is so my style (except I can actually afford it!). My favorite pieces are the slip dress, the blue dress, and the leopard belt! Its a shame, because im pretty sure that my Target is not carrying it. (I've called like 50 times and all I get is umm.. who. Roydertay? No.. I don't think so..)

My favorite peices are the black halter dress and the yellow lace cardigan.
I think it would be amazing to see them worn together. The collar of the cardigan looks like it gives the bow of the dress just enough room to fit into.
If the cardigan is worn with the dress, however, I don't think a belt would be needed. The detail of the bow at the waist would be enough.
Maybe some nice vintage looking pearl bracelets would be nice, and possibly a black and white cameo hairpin.
As for shoes, I think some simple black ballerina flats would work for a casual look. If someone was going for a more dressy look, I think black pumps or simple ankle boots would be nice.

Sorry for the over board detail, I just really get into this styling stuff.

I am thrilled about the collaboration between Rodarte and Target. i have been a fan of rodarte for quite some time now, lamenting the fact i don't make mad ca$h to buy everything they have ever made. when i first caught a glimpse of a few of the pieces for the target line, i was instantly smitten. "december 20th" has been ingrained in my brain for weeks now. i am most excited about the skeleton dress, which i plan to wear on new years' eve to a masquerade party, wherein i will wear it with a small top hat with a lace veil and a small black zorro-type eye mask, black gloves, and wing-tipped heels. i have been dreaming about this line (not kidding: i had a dream wherein i was elbowing people in the face to get the last painted-lace leopard print dress) and my NYE outfit for days.. it's seriously the only thing i can think about.

i haven't been this excited about anything in a very long time (freak?), not to mention i feel that every piece is essential; this sweater is no exception. i have boundless ideas for this mustard dream.

i love rodarte!
i love target!

i would love to have this beauty in my possession, as i will own at least 80% of the entire line by this time tomorrow.

auf weidersehen, tavi!

I have recently gotten into reading your blog after seeing you in teen vogue! I'm so inspired by your style, and see a lot of my young self in you, and don't worry I'm not creepy and deformed. Style is something you are born with and the journey to figuring it all out it the best part. I was always considered an outsider for what I wore, but looking back I'm glad I had the balls to express myself (no matter how socially suicidal it was, haha.) Love the Rodarte leopard dress, bows and leopard are def a major weakness. Also totes digging the nude shear dress, think you had that one all layered up in the teen vogue. Anyway.... hello from a new fan and follower, never lose your fearless creativity!

Looking at all the pieces and the whole, nothing screams to me OMG I NEED TO HAVE IT (except for the tights, I'm such a big sucker for tights, bought a 4 drawr cabinet to store everything) but it does say BRILLIANT. Leopart that isn't tacky, leopart that can me matched with other leopart and on top of that sequins! And tights worn up to the hips with a bow belt is something I've never seen before. And last but not least the fact that they didn't pair everything with killer heals. Very thoughtful. Quite 'take your own style from it' instead of 'making what the people wants to see and dares to wear'.

I'm most excited for the striped tee, however boring that may be compared to skull-emblazoned dresses and lace tights. I search high and low perennially for the perfect striped shirt and I have a feeling this might be one of them. I'm not the dressiest girly girl but I see myself out in those North Dakota plains in this "plain" tee, so happy, and just as happy here in New York, or anywhere I may end up. To me, a striped tee is evocative of so many things--all my favorite French films and sailors and Edie and gondoliers, etc. etc. Wearing them makes me feel natural and myself.

I love the sequined ribcage dress...it just kills me. I love the detailed image of the ribcage.. .that it's not just a screen-printed outline or a silhouette which is so popular right now (though I love those too) The simple form, the sequins, interesting but not over done..hmm they should do another dress or jacket that's plain in the front with a spinal cord on the back

The powder blue dress...I'm always drawn to blue ( even though my official fave color as of now is green). It's simple, dainty, 50's girly vibe, but the sheer portion is what makes it covetable.

and the lace cardigan..so delicate and floaty...it reminds me of cobwebs-in a good way (duh)

As a fellow fashion follower I am always eagerly anticipating shows and launches and things like this... what makes this target launch SUPER is that --- what, I can actually afford these?!
seriously. I'm a broker than broke apparel student trying desperately to prepare myself for birth into the real live world of fashion and I've got inside me an indeterminable mix of excitement and anxiety, melding together and producing some kind of strange and chronic fashion-euphoria. No, really. I thrive on inspiration and seeing the process from then to finished collection gets me more giddy than...boys get sorority girls. On top of that, vintage hunting is a favorite thing to do, although I wouldn't say Providence has a ton to offer in that vein...which is why this collection is doubly good. Rosemary's Baby modern vintage with the impeccable eyes of the Mulleavy sisters looking over details... and at Target? Yes, please. To get real specific, I have a special thing for the bow lace and tulle dress because I just finished a semester-long collection where I have been experimenting with various sheers and chiffons, playing with opacities creating relationships with other materials.mmmm. and also because well, duh, who doesn't love lingerie?

hdesjard@g.risd.edu

on a completely unrelated note and as a separate comment, I think you are going to be unstoppable in the near future... It's so inspiring to see and share your thoughts, and to see what an incredible sense of self you have-at 13 I was admittedly WAY less cool than you are and am glad that I am not 13 now and going to school with you because I'm sure I would be afraid to try and be your friend. hahahaha.

DUDE LIKE BLACK LACE DRESS kthxbye.

I love seeing pieces like that, because they are so runway, yet so wearable. Especially, living in California, where everyone is so friggin' judgemental(not saying i'm not, whaaaat)it's extremely rare to come across something that's so stylish, but doesn't go over the edge, so people don't judge/act weirded out by your tea bag skirt.

Clearly, I talk from experience.

Anyway.
I'm like 13.
And I think you're cool.
Almost cool as a mustard cardigan.

And because of the new law, I am supposed to let you know that EARTH NEEDS MORE OF YOUR PEOPLE.

i'm mostly looking forward to being to find something in my style, at a lower price. rodarte is amaaaazing! my family doesn't have enough income to actually spend a lot of money on clothing, so a rodarte x target line is ideal for me.

i love all of the textures they're using in the line, and mixing them. they're girly, but not overtly so, which is what i'm going for.

Okay, so there are a few things in the Rodarte for Target collection I'm having a baby for.
One, that really pretty blue dress, I think it's a Swiss dot dress or something, BUT ANYWHORE IT'S BEAUTIFUL.
Two, every single last one of those lace cardigans. Especially the nude one. How flipping cool is nude lace, really?
The use of fabrics in pretty much every Rodarte collection ever make me wanna die. I love it, I love it, I love it. Lace and sheer fabrics make my life, although I only next to none of it. Cough, that means send me one of the cardigans, cough.
Unfortunately, I'm Canadian, so I'm screwed over in Rodarte for Target terms. Unless, you're including international readers in this giveaway. Please. I'm begging you.

My favorite item in the Rodarte/Target collection is by far the Swiss Dot Dress in Baby Blue. I am a fan of Rodarte as well and alot of their items for Target are a little hard rock style (which is a good thing) but this dress automatically stood out to me as very different then the others. Not only because of the color but also because It can be styled as hard rocker chick on a night out or put with a cardigan for a day in the office. It is a very versitle dress that I would be able to wear for a variety of occasions. I am a girl who loves to wear dresses especially in the spring and summer and this dress is very much my style.

PLease pick me! I love fashion and i'm on a very tight budget, lol.

What I love about the Rodarte for Target line is that it contradicts its self in an oh so stylish way. A sort of naughty but nice concept but replace the naughty with hard core rocker. ex. The mustard colored cardigan. Its a cute and classic cut in a nice vintage color but bam its lace which almost reminds me of Madonna. ex. the leopard print dress. there is something about it that says if you were me with liquid leggings and tease your hair to epic proportions, were a smokey eye and 10 inch high heels (exaggeration) you could look totally badass but also if you paired it with a pair of girly black flats you would look like a cute little girl. these pieces are a perfect balance of innocent but atractive and very attractive that girls of thirteen years like me long for

I feel completely overwhelmed by the whole collection, like if it was too much, you know? Well, you said you didn't want us to write what we think you want us to write, but what we really think. So this is it: I love all the items separately, I would wear them all (especially the leopard-printed ones, they are indescribably awesome) without a doubt. But I don't like the styling, it feels like the items have been put together without a pattern. And my personal style is always so "thought" that getting dressed without thinking feels weird.

Sorry if I made any spell or grammar mistakes, I still (yes, even after 10 years of learning) have problems with my English.
Bye, love your blog :) Greetings from Spain!

Ha! There are sooooo maaaaany comments here.

I live in Canada and that means that sadly, there are no Targets and thus I am the MOST deservng of a cardigan!

Look, whenever amzaing designers do filter collections at affordable prices it means that they actually CARE about what people look like. They're saying, 'I wanna change the aesthetic of everything around me and I'm gonna do it now - starting with the PEOPLE!' It's so damn socialist I start crying.

Like other designer collabs, I think I'm most excited about the accessibility of Rodarte's aesthetic. Everything they create has a dreamy, ethereal quality to it and I'm happy that they did this collaboration with Target to help reach more people who may not have been exposed to their work otherwise.

I am torn. Deeply, deeply torn.

Do I post about the the yellow cardigan that is JUST the right shade that I would wear every day for a week in an exciting almost-scandalous way over every black item I own?

Or do I describe my insane excitement (to my girlfriend's great annoyance - she is a little confused when I get this excited over dresses) when I saw the post about the leopard dress with the bows down the back that is everything I love aka animal print and frilly and yet still just barely within the realm of ok to wear in public? It is a masterpiece of almost-tack sartorial joy just begging to be paired with my only pair of unripped black tights (gotta keep it classy and simple when there is that much going) and cream Victorian booties.

Or do I just get overall excited that it is RODARTE. At TARGET. Aka SOMEWHERE I MIGHT ACTUALLY BE ABLE TO AFFORD.

All the above? I mean, clearly.

Love,

Emma

Fashion always has an element of in-or-out. Do you wear the right trends? Are you skinny enough? Do you have enough money to afford the new it bag? If I walked into a boutique that sold Rodarte's normal line, I would probably feel so uncomfortable because I don't fit into the in group, but the Target line says to me that Rodarte doesn't care if I'm a sample size with Daddy's credit card. I'm worth designing for too. A few years ago, the closest I could get to the designer trends was an ABS knock of one of the Oscar dresses that got mass produced for the prom season. It's hard to describe, but it just feels good to get a Rodarte piece designed for Target customers, instead of a cheap Rodarte knock off which only reminds me again how I can't afford the real thing. So I'm excited for the Rodarte line because even as tight as my budget is while living off student loans, I'll be able to treat myself to something new and fun this season.

OMG ! OMG ! OMG ! OMG ! OMG !

(KEEP IN MIND: I NEVER SAY 'OMG')

TO ENUNCIATE MY FEELINGS ABOUT RODARTE FOR TARGET, I AM GOING ALL-CAPS, BABY.

LET ME TELL A LITTLE STORY. (okay, the caps got to me. it got a bit annoying...)

SO. LET ME TELL A LITTLE STORY!:
Once upon a time, there was a girl who loved clothes. Almost as much as she loved music, but still, so, so, so, so, so much. And guess what? Her favorite designers were LAURA & KATE MULLEAVY! (Oh, and Marc Jacobs, too.) This girl was named Petra, and her favorite brand(s) in the whole whide world was RODARTE!!! (Oh, and Marc Jacobs.)

So, when this girl -- PETRA -- found out about RODARTE FOR TARGET! she literally began to cry. Out of excitement, happiness, and the fact that she's a little crazy, like this amazingly crazy new line with Target. Petra was SO EXCITED. She'd found out from her Teen Vogue, where it magically opened to Tavi's picture! Her favorite blogger? Her favorite label? What more could you ask for?! Seriously...

So, IN SUMMARY:

What am I looking forward to? Oh, I don't know... THE WHOLE FLIPPIN' LINE! RODARTE FOR TARGET = AWESOME. Did you know, I'm getting up at six AM on a SUNDAY to run off to Target, in case it sells out?! Aghhhhhhh..... !!!! SO EXCITED SO EXCITED SO EXCITED !!!!

My favorite pieces? The LACY CARDIGANS, the lace tights, the dresses, the tops, the cheetah print bow belts, and the super-de-duper awesome sequin rib cage dress. They make me feel like I'm a total Jenny Humphrey + Blair Waldorf thing. It's AMAZING... and I haven't even felt the touch of the fabrics yet....

im beyond hyped for the rodarte collaboration with target! especially that leopard dress, its not just "fierce" (my sis said that when i showed it to her, good job sis...), its GORGEOUS! it has this vintage look, as if theres a story behind it. maybe like your mother when she was back in the day, the life of the party and the eye candy of every guy in the room and thats the faithful day she met your father...or something.... okay that was slightly weird, sorta just came out, sorry.
and also that denim jacket is just perfect. ive been trying to find one JUST LIKE THAT for how long already. its my dream denim jacket, i have to have it. when i do, all i need is to go back in time to the 80s, get cyndi lauper tickets, and have brunch with molly ringwald.(...what?)
okay okay okay
ONE MORE THING! that ribcage sequined dress. its just TRULY OUTRAGEOUS! I NEED IT!(because everyone needs a sequined dress with a ribcage print on it :D) nuff said.

Somehow the whole collection has something in it which I love. I love music, especially metal, and my clothing usually fits that style.. And this collection has a lot of pieces which I would wear on a concert for example, they're cool and they seem to be comfortable. It's also nice that Rodarte creations are now available for a lower price, quite a shame that I live more than far away from any Target stores..: )

So that' why I love this collection, 'cause a lot of people can not imagine metal to be stylish, but with clothes like these it can, and I love proving it every day..: )

SO excited for the Rodarte for Target line because sometimes I feel like there's no middle-ground price for cool fashion. I love the few designer pieces I own and could not LIVE without my thrift-shop finds, but I often can't pick out articles of clothing - other than basics - at moderately-priced stores like Kohls, Target, Old Navy, etc. I feel like because they are trying to appeal to most American woman, they are afraid to take risks with what they sell. Not so with Target now! I love that not only can I afford this cool stuff - and get it at my local Target - I think that the line is going to inspire the inner fashonista in a lot of girls. This sweater (and ALL the pieces in the line) just scream to not be paired with sneakers and jeans, but something totally creative. I wanna see women walking down the street wearing this yellow sweater with a plaid jumper and heels, or cowboy boots and overalls (I mean, those both sound totally hideous, but you get my gist here). And I think I will. So thanks Target! And thanks Rodarte! You give the average woman courage to find high fashion in her inner soul.

(And thanks Tavi! I think you do that, too. You're great. K bye.)

I am most excited for the beige slip/lace-ish dress. I love the detail and thought process that seems to go into each piece of the line. For example, the bows on the sleeves, creating a CLASSY halter dress (the black one), and making the skeleton (I am obsessed with bones!) in sequins. Rodarte has always been one of my favorite designers due to their ability to create something new and surprise me come each season. I live in Los Angeles, which is supposed to be one of the fashion capitals of the US. But honestly it seems like everyone here in this realm of private school kids (of which I am part of) wears the same exact thing in different variations (floral dress and lace up boots). I look forward to the line to further differentiate myself from the same kids wearing the same things.
Thank you!

I'm excited for the Rodarte for Target line because it's spreading the joy of fashion and getting dressed with inspiration to a store some people may go to everyday. It's an affordable vessel for the spread of dressing well, like a recruitment station for soldiers in the war between athletic wear, pajama bottoms, and Abercrombie, and those who take the time to boost their own confidence with the art of their clothing. Rodarte for Target is everyone's line.

Anyways I am really looking forward to wearing the black lace dress with red tights and my favorite boots. I think the whole line is suitable for the winter and my school wardrobe really needs something fun and fresh but still with a classic ting to it. I hate looking like everyone else in the common tees/jeans.sneakers combo I see everywhere and noe Rodarte has made their beautifully crafted clothes available to the average Joe like me!

Personally, I'm staying awake until midnight or later to attempt and buy the leopard bow belt and the slip dress you were wearing in Teen Vogue. I am completely infatuated with that dress. I really like how all of the pieces mesh well together, and yet each piece has an identity of it's own. The way I dress is a statement of who I am, and if I feel like a badass one day I can dress like one, or if I'm feeling super girly I can dress like that too. This new line has so many pieces that stand out on their own, and yet you can use them for whatever mood you want to create. The lace cardigan in black and the sequin dress in gray leopard paired with black army boots gives off the persona of the girl you don't want to mess with, while the cardigan in mustard yellow and the lace and tulle skirt in mustard paired with some flats reminds me of a girl going out for tea with some friends. This collection lets me pick and choose who I want to be each day, and each piece of clothing is memorable (my fave is the tulle and lace skirt in navy...I just want to twirl around in it). It also doesn't hurt that the clothing is affordable!!

i want really badly for little black, symmetrically shaped bows to adorn necks, waists, foreheads, everything. i'm glad rodarte/target is doing their best to make this happen, even if it's but for a wrinkle in time. i quite love the prim-femininity+psycho-killer-gloves juxtaposition. fierce. fabulous.

I love the leopard dress, but I love the entire collection, it's something that Daphne Guinness could wear, so this is perfect.

TULLE TULLE TULLE.

I am obsessed with tulle, thank JEEBUS for bringing it back---since I haven't gotten over it, ever, after that biotche Tonya barfed on my tutu at the end of swan lake in kindergarten. She was sweet, though---brushed the barf off mine with her own. This one's for Tonya.

Those tulle sleeves are ridic! I've had it on my desktop for weeks.

i like the colour as it reminds me of the yellow dress cate blanchett wore in elizabeth the golden age with the huge feather headpiece. i think i would style it the same way. huge white feathers bigger than my head with it.
i am however not looking forward to attempting to get it on ebay as i am in australia. boo!

A few days ago I was writing down all the possible travel destinations that appeal to me for a trip I want to go on in January with some unexpected money I received. I also wrote down good reasons to choose each destination. One of the places was the States. And these are the reasons I wrote down in a piece of paper that I still have...
-Far far from London, and from Europe (good to be far away for a while).
-Winter in the States (never visited in winter before)
-Visiting friends in D.C.
-Maybe go West instead? Visit Patrick in L.A. (never been before)
-Good currency exchange.
-NEW YORK!!!! And thinking of new reasons to move there. Oh, and the cheesecakes. And vintage shops in Brooklyn. And good coffee. And...well, New York.
-Find and buy some Rodarte x Target pieces if they still are some in some Target somewhere? Could do a roadtrip in the search of the last Rodarte piece in some lost Target somewhere in the States. Film it?
-Concerts/exhibitions/museums.
-Use brand new camera for an exciting trip.
-No more Bush...it's good to go back to the States now.
-Buy marshmallow fluff and other funny food products.
-Go south?

So basically I don't know what I'm most excited about for the collection, but it seemed a good reason for my trip, especially because there are no Targets here in London or the UK.

I am extremely excited for the Nude colored lace cardigan , That cardigan in general really . I love it in yellow too and in black Its just a great piece. I am also infatuated with the blue tulle pleated skirt. That paired with the cardigan (in any color but especially nude I think ) would be amazing,I Was so pleased when I heard about the inspirations , Harold and Maude is my favorite movie of all time so That just made it all the more amazing. The whole feeling that is coming from this project is free and easy creative and fun. I wish I could have all of it in a pile and roll around in it all day ( not that that will ever happen...)

I also admire his leopard dress with the sequin cardigan overtop with the belt. I love pairing unique and different patterns together. The look is feminine yet bold!

These clothes are not what I think of Target clothes at all which is the first plus. But for me I think the colors are supa dupa. When you think about those films B&C, RB and I forgot the third one but they are all shot on film. The colors are supa rich and saturated. Even though B&C is like this cool brown palette the blacks, browns, whites, navys and grays stand out. I mean look at anything FD wears. It stands out against the BG. That mustard sweater, the rich blacks, pink, , rich, saturated and the prints are exciting and fun which is what fashion should and its affordable.

Let's just say I'm a tool for tulle.

Knowing that no where in my near future will I be able to afford some high society clothing. Therefore, Target has been one of the only non-thrift store purchases I make.

So muster up the courage for mustard. Scale up for skeleton wear. Get tore up from the floral up... Target here I come :)

So, even though I'm a boy I still feel really jazzed for this collection and want to grab a couple of the pieces for myself. I watched the video and was super excited to see part of their inspiration was Rosemary's Baby cause Mia Farrow is one of my all time favorites.

I would say that my most-desired piece would be the black lace cardi, I want it as big as I can get it, so I can be swimming in the lace. That sounds nice to me.

Everyone should spend some time swimming in golden fields, I think. The collection is so timeless and beautiful, and the whole team seems so inspired by the clothing, which to me seems the point of fashion - to be inspired. All the pieces are lovely, but I have that lacy piece is magical. It reminds me of spiderwebs and tea cozies and most definitely Rosemary's Baby. Haha, actually, two years ago I cut my hair just like hers. :) Of course, I'm tan and half Egyptian, so it had a bit of a different effect.

Anyhow, the cardigan is all sorts of wonder and my email is oaserr@gmail.com.

What I really love about this collection are the sometimes not so subtle "good girl gone bad" moments courtesy of the little leather gloves, animal prints, shrunken denim jacket and most blatantly the sequin dress with rib cage adornment.

With that said, I also love that the Mulleavy's brought us back a more feminine Rodarte girl for Target. Their last few collections of warrior women were fabulous, don't get me wrong, but I was missing the days of girly tulle and chiffon I fell in love with when they first came on the scene!

Rodarte never ceases to impress me with each of their runway collections, and they've done it again with this one. What makes this different is I can actually own what I'm already swooning over!

Part of me wants to live like Mia Farrow in "Rosemary's Baby." But as fun as chasing around baby-snatching Satanists with a chef's knife is, it's not nearly as fabulous without the wardrobe (or the killer Vidal Sassoon pixie cut. But I digress). If I'm going to go head-to-head with a bunch of naked septuagenarians, I better have my combat gear sorted out. Because rich evil old people are a force to be reckoned with.

I may never live in the Dakota or have a closet full of Anthea Sylbert's designs. But the new Rodarte capsule collection comes pretty close to reaching those epic heights. With it's 60s mod inspired cuts and its grannie chic palette, the Rodarte for Target makes that ideal slightly more real. And while the prospect of Satanic sex doesn't particularly appealing, for clothes so mod-tastically good, a few sacrifices never hurt. Right?

let me just start by saying that I am hella excited for this collection. pretty much more excited than I was for erin fetherston x target and luella x target. which means that the excitemnet level is through the roof. what follows are two specific reasons why I probably had a heart palpitation when this collabo was announced:

One: JEAN SHORTS!!!!!!! this seems like a stupid thing to want really bad in a collection full of cheetah print and rodarte *~*MaGiC*~*~, so let me explain. I model my life around the greek philosophy of forever striving to approach the ideal. Plato in particular explained in his “Republic” that everything humans make are imitations of the ideal which exists in almost a separate dimension. When I say I model my life around this philosophy, I mean it. I am constantly looking for perfection, including in clothes; Jean shorts are a staple of my summer wardrobe and I have yet to find the ultimate jean shorts. So when I saw a picture of the semi high-wasted cuffed Rodarte pair, I reached self-atcualization. okay, that's maybe a tiny exaggeration, but whatever. I won’t know for sure until I try them on, but as the black eyed peas say, “I gotta feeling, ooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooooh”. or something like that, anyway...

Two: I love love love the video of the behind the scenes shoot in North Dakota. The appreciation for the American West reminded me of Keruoac’s “on the road” one of my favorite novels ever. I feel like the middle of nowhere, I mean the West is so underappreciated and it really is lovely and serene and unique… I know of no other place on Earth that is like it. Woot America.

Sorry that this comment makes no sense since Kerouac and Plato and a misquoted black eyed peas song sort of don’t have anything to do with Rodarte but kind of they do now? I don’t know. I suppose if I’m not chosen for this lovely yellow cardigan that is the poor (wo)man’s version of legit Rodarte knits (Much too fabulous ever to be handled by the grubby/undeserving likes of me) I will most likely end up owning it anyway since I plan on buying this whole collection. Woot.

i am most looking forward to the black lace tights. this is because in the moment i saw them, i also saw that i was a boy, that i was a college student, that i was perhaps a human, that i was kinda broke, that i was in whatever time, age or space. then my latent conviction that these things are quite arbitrary kind of winked at me.

The entire collection epitomizes how I would dress everyday if I could -- girly (bows, tulle!), edgy (sequins, lace!) and animal print!! Their entire collection appeals to a little bit of everyone, but can be most easily paired together to create an effortless, adorable, innovative and (most importantly) affordable look. Its impossible to pick a favourite, I'd take the whole dang collection if I could!

translucents are god awful fun to play with and i dont just mean sometimes sticking your head in a hosery leg...i mean fashion play.

paired with dresses, worn as pants (no one would dare tell me they "aren't pants" (in a whiney voice) they will be too fashion-struck) worn as a headband! worn as a belt....

i flippin' can't wait :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the black lace tights. They can instantly add edge or femininity to anything, and that's the dichotomy of fashion that I live by. I've described my style as "evolving" and that's exactly what this Rodarte collection for Target is! Each and every piece rides that fine line between being edgy or feminine.

Well, Tavi, looks like you have quite the task ahead of you (sayeth the teacher in me).

What I am most excited about in this line? Taking my amazing no-brand jeans that I picked up at the Salvation army my senior in high school (many moons ago) and turning me into an entire new Absolutely Amazing Me with just a touch of sparkling DIVINITY - maybe a sweet mohair-esque vest over a sassy black dress with my beloved jeans, or a nutty sequined skull tank, mustard cardigan with my red moon boots over those ole blue jeans.

In a sentence?
Opportunity for affordable (and EXCITING) reinvention.

Rodarte is wonderful! When collections are put together for more commercially accessible lines I usually get super excited and then just disappointed with the final products... they always seem cheaply made, say little about the aesthetic of the designer or still remain too expensive for my budget (I'm a poor art history student, boo hoo!) but this Rodarte line for Target looks fabulous - although, I'm all the way up in Canada, a Target-free barren wasteland (more boo-hooing! I'm trying to play the pity card)

The cardigan looks super lovely as well, Tavi - thanks for organizing this giveaway! Having the style aesthetic of a librarian in the 1970s (and not the sexy kind) I've always been disproportionally attracted to cardigans, and mustard yellow (plus, always good on a hot dog...)

Yes! Hooray for Rodarte!

ROW-DART-HAY! I think it's really quite great that Rodarte is doing a collection for target & making it accessible to everyone. They don't cut back or lose their vision with this collection, which I really respect. They seem to stay true to themselves while making a line that cannot have nearly the same price tag as their ready to wear collections... not an easy feat! Often designers just try to pawn off clothes that 'kind of' look like their esthetic, but Rodarte created a cohesive & interesting collection, while keeping their vision. They moved forward with this brand & created a whole new something we have never seen & have been secretly waiting for. I mean that mustard cardigan.. it takes a color, yellow, which i often find kind of intimidating. Without the right shade of yellow, an outfit can turn sour. But this cardigan eliminates my fear of yellow.. its effortless combination takes lace and a romantic sillouete revolutionizes the color yellow from being found at an 70s swiss fondue party to a poetry session in the park. I am fascinated by their progression & definitely hooked! Can't wait to see what these wiz kidz do next!

The thing that I love mostly about the line is the details. I believe sometimes its the little things that make you fall in love with pieces. Whether its a bow, a lace trim or even a not so normal color. What I love about the line is that it wasn't about being over the top and in your face, its about celebrating femininity with a little old school glamour and a new school twist. Very lovely.

I cant help but fall in love with Rodarte all over again with this collection. My favorite is the animal print dress with the three bows down the back. The way that everything in the collection has a two faced sort of aspect to it amazes me. I want to walk around in a huge field somewhere in the black lace dress, just to feel properly out of place. For someone like me (too many interests for too small a budget), the Mulleavy sisters have created something magical.

My friends and I have been counting down the days that Rodarte for Target launched FOR MONTHS! I am so excited to go to Target in the morning. I am not, however, excited to battle the Christmas crowds, the winter blizzard that just landed, or anyone who tries to take the tan silk and lace Rodarte dress before I can. And I WILL fight them! It would be perfect for Christmas Eve dinner with the family. My younger sister just bought a super cute black lace dress for the occasion and I have nothing to wear. (We, as sisters, are very competitive.) If I had the tan dress, and it fit correctly (which I'm praying it does) with black tights and black suede pumps, it'd be a CHRISTMAS MIRACLE! And I would look as cute as my sister . . .

YAY for Rodarte at Target!
