Rodarte for Target Giveaway

I would like to announce a Rodarte for Target giveaway! Party time!
Here's how it works:

1. Write in the comments what you're most excited about for the Rodarte for Target line. It could be a specific piece, or just something about the feel of the collection you like, or anything. I've made comments anonymous-inclusive so anyone can enter. Leave your email address in the comments too so we can get your mailing address if you win.

2. I will pick 40-45 winners (but don't try to make the answer suitable to my tastes or anything. That's no fun!) We will email the winners and the pieces will be sent out.

The giveaway item is this mustard lace cardigan I said I would wear every day if I could in the collaboration video.

It's also here:I haven't taken any pictures of myself in it but it's super soft and nice to stare at when you're bored during gym WHAT WHO SAID THEY ARE BORED DURING GYM NOT ME.

Now get cracking!

EDIT: I will stop taking entries at midnight Central Standard Time on Saturday, December 19th.

EDIT AGAIN: The contest has ended, we will be emailing the winners this week. Any new entries will be ignored. Thank you to everyone who participated!

EDIT AGAIN AGAIN: Please do not email me about winning. I am basing my choices off the comments alone, emails will be ignored.

Because of the new law, I am supposed to let you know that I receieved compensation and pieces from the Rodarte for Target collection for my collaboration with Target.

Why am I excited about Rodarte for Target? Because Rodarte is completely not my style. But I love fashion and I love to play, and somehow I feel that this mustard piece would bring a blast of fresh air into my wardrobe; that it would be THAT missing part to my feel-like-something´s-missing-just-can´t-figure-out-what fashion puzzle game...if it is enough to deserve it :)

The reason for my excitement and general awe of the collection is that it doesn't try to be what many others do, sexy.
The looks have their own direction that isn't forced to consolidate with current trends and yet always manages to tap into the zeitgeist, without fail.

I like 3 things: good quality, vintage and price.
This is something that you used to find in your mother's wardrobe, but you were not allowed to wear it.
So, for me it is obvious: vintage is very cool thing, but if you can find "new made vintage", then you are even more lucky.
And I am very glad that RODARTE are taking their inspiration in such a beautiful surrounding. IT feels like they know what they are doing:)Good work!

Hi

I'm excited because there's nothing more appealing and attractive than true enthusiasm about something, no matter the subject really. When people are speaking about their passion, they forget themselves and you can see it. love that.

Also, I'm a film freak and I love Rodarte's inspiration films. Couldn't pick better ones.

Thank you for your blog.

I know that this is a whole look but the look with the blue lace and tulle skirt and the bunched denim jacket is inspiring as hell to me. It's something I would not quite put together for myself but creates such an interesting aesthetic that I would go out and buy the entire outfit. It is also quite intertwined with the scandinavian fashion culture I live in which is something I comfortable with. The scarf makes me want to scream I am so in love with lacy big bow scarves. We also don't have a Target in Denmark which is so sad because I would buy the jacket so fast if we did.

I want the entire Rodarte for Target. I do like how the collection has kept the spirit of Rodarte, but made it wearable for everyday women. I see a lot of these pieces, and they are things that I could wear to work. I also like that they do differ from a lot of current trends (i.e. this kinda "tough" fashion thing) and honestly, that they are covered up a bit more than some stuff out there. Trying to find cute, affordable clothing that can work for work clothing that is also fashionable can be really hard especially if you don't want to look older or you don't have a desire for your dress to be around your butt. (Sorry F21!) Also, as I'm sure others mentioned, the opportunity to be able to get designer clothing that normally I could never afford at a Target price is fantastic. Most of the time, fashion is something that not everyone can access due to multiple factors, but collaborations like this give that access. This is something I think is beneficial not just to the consumer/lover of fashion, but obviously the industry as well. It breaks down some of those "elitist" images and allows everyone to be able to join in on the fun.

Anyhooz, I especially liked the skeleton like black dress tunic thing. I would wear that all the time, it would go lovely with my morbid sense of humor.
I also loved the tiger print dress, that was so lovely, I think if I had that one I would want to wear it A LOT. I'm so sad that there is no Target in the Netherlands:(

I LOVE Rodarte! I only got into fashion recently and I remember seeing a picture of Kirsten Dunst wearing a Rodarte dress (the one which looks kinda like silvery bandages that have been wrapped round into an AMAZING mini) in this magazine. I then looked them up and fell in love (sorry for the dramatics). Unfortunately I then saw the prices which were a LITTLE out of my budget :(
I'm 13 and a half so I get an allowance of 40 pounds a month meaning that it would take me FOREVER to save up. I also LOVE the cobweb-like tights but those are a little too expensive aswell. (sigh)And the jumpers! They are amazing aswell. So yeah. please please please please please please please please please please please please please pick me!

I usually don't wear striped tees, they remind me of the days when I refered to myself as an "indiepoper" and have a strained sailorvibe. Therefor it is sort of contradicting that the piece I find most wearable in the Rodarte for Target-line is the striped tee, I seriously need it! Though, instead of a sailsman I would style it like an old-fashioned thief meets outdoorsy natureguy. Think tiny black woolcap, skinny black laceup ankleboots, really slim khakijeans and one of those vests, u know, that fishermen wears with many pockets (http://www.machovec.com/mustang/images/miv10grn.jpg) in some dark colour. Honestly, wouldn't that be like awesome?

First time I saw this line is when I was playing looklet. If people say 'Love at the first sight' then I just felt it. I'm fallin' for Rodarte for Target at the first sight. No joke.

One of my favorite is the sequin ribcage dress. It's way too cool. And the lace things, oh my they're marvelous!

But unfortunately I can't find any of those stunning clothes here, in my country. I can't go for online shopping too, my parents don't let me have any credit cards.

Oh that's too bad. All I can do is just surf the internet and looked at the collection with my mouth opened wide. Poor me poor me.

If I could find a magic lamp with a genie in it I would ask for a Rodarte for Target store just beside my house for sure.

<3 Love,
From a girl who adore this line so much but she only can look at it and hasn't been wearing any of the line's clothes.

P.S. Really, I don't want to make anybody think 'Oh what a poor girl'. I just want to write what I feel inside of my heart. Blah I know it sounds dramatic, but that's what I feel. And sorry for my English.

What I love about the Rodarte for Target line is that it contradicts its self in an oh so stylish way. A sort of naughty but nice concept but replace the naughty with hard core rocker. ex. The mustard colored cardigan. Its a cute and classic cut in a nice vintage color but bam its lace which almost reminds me of Madonna. ex. the leopard print dress. there is something about it that says if you were me with liquid leggings and tease your hair to epic proportions, were a smokey eye and 10 inch high heels (exaggeration) you could look totally badass but also if you paired it with a pair of girly black flats you would look like a cute little girl

so i already purchased the black and nude colored dress and it is, for sure, the bee's knees. i'm pretty pumped about the lace stockings and the denim jacket.

i'm a teacher and as a rule of thumb teachers are supposed to dress awful and frumpy (bad awful and bad frumpy--not the fashionable frumpy)...so i try to match my awful(ly) frumpy wardrobe with unique pieces that are interesting to look at. and that is where rodarte comes in! it is like wearable art...and it makes me happy!

Greetings,
I am really excited about this collection because it incorporates a great deal of style points I love. For instance, tulle, I love tulle it reminds me of my days of being a ballet dancer wearing a tutu. How I long to wear a tutu everyday, but alas the adult size ones I've come across are mostly intended as foreplay outfits. I also really like the "mohair-ish" cropped jacket that was inspired by "Bonnie and Clyde". My favorite era is the early 20th century through the mid 1940s, and I love being able to portray the style of that time, and that jacket really "speaks" to me. That sounds pretentious or whatnot but I love that jacket and want to wear it everyday...And that too might seem gross but I totally would. I love the eclectic nature of Rodarte and their homage to the midwest in their North Dakota shoot. Target...you never cease to amaze me, Tavi, ditto.

I'm just super excited for the collection as a whole. Finally something feminine and edgy that I can get my paws on locally. It was extremely disappointed with the Jimmy Choo Collaboration with H&M because it was so limited and exclusive to only certain Cities but not so with Rodarte! The fact that I can in Columbus, Ohio Pop down to two different Targets and get to see, feel and try on these gorgeous designs is AMAZING!

My favorite piece is the sequined Rib cage shift and every single dress I would wear in an instant. I want everything from this line!

When it's the cardigan that's the giveaway, I'll use the occasion to ode it:
I am most excited about the cut, texture and colour of the cardigan from the Rodarte x Target collection, because the mixture is of the three above mentioned is, say, PERFECT!?! It is even sooo appealing to me that I wanted to enter a comment to this give-away post even though I am leaving on monday for 6 months travel in NZ, Australia and Thailand where, because of the wheather situation (it being all warm and such) and lack of space in a suitcase (that in theory should space clothing for 6 FREAKIN MONTHS) it is almost impossible for me to carry it alonge.
(Wow, I'm not selling myself quite well, huh? PLEASE GIVE IT TOO ME ANYWAY!! :) I promise to take pictures in it on every mountain top, in every jungle and generally at every occasion ^^ )

Yours sincerly

I'm so psyched for the leopard dress in particular, and I'm intrigued by the black halter dress. Also loving the leopard accessories. Who knew I was so into leopard? Not me.

I've been psyched for this collection since I heard about it a loooong time ago - the Rodarte team always has some amazing stuff, and I'm all about Target (esp its collaboration w/ awesome designers). When I first looked through Roadrte's collection for Target, I got goosebumps ( for the creativeness) and sweaty palms ( for the WOW-ness). I think that the sequined grey leopard dress is amazing. Same goes for the lace and tulle skirt. If I had a top of the sequined grey leopard dress, I would wear the skirt with it and add on the CARDIGAN! :D It looks fab and at the same time, very classy :)

My favourite piece was the rib cage dress, mostly because it's the funniest piece. I love the fact it's kinda scary in a way you could wear it to a fancy halloween party but it's also kinda lovely and normal because, hey, if you don't have rib cages you are the abnormal one. Plus it's shiny, so it might be my big break to be picked up by a giant bird and be tendered by it in the mountains.
Ok! fingers crossed!

Really, what excites me most about the new Rodarte collection is the amount it makes a level of fashion risk-taking accessible and reasonably-priced. Much of the line is not my traditional "style" (or so I think)--too daring, too visible-- but you know what? It's cheap enough that I could get a piece or two and experiment with fitting them into my wardrobe. (also, I do love the leopard accessories! and all the lace!)

The tights!! If I had to pick anything it would be the tights! I guess its becuse they remind me of the tights from the autumn 08 campagin, which is when I fell in love with Rodarte.. I guess thats what the whole line does for me, reminds me of everything I love about the designers in one tidy target package..

Aside from that, I am loving how you styled the lepoard print dress, makes me want to find me some.

There are SO many things I'm excited about in the Rodarte line!

I think most of all I love all of the textures used... tulle, lace, the mohair-ish vest, layered fabric... I could just see myself going crazy picking up every piece from the rack and checking out the feel and texture. I love it! The line is bold and colorful with a classic touch, and leaves so much room for individuality and layering. I'm crazy about the tulle pleated skirt and the printed t-shirts (the kimono-inspired print is amazing!).

Seriously, cannot wait for this! Love love love.

Tavi, I guess I'm most of infatuation with the slight larger gray web/lace knit cardigan. It seems to have the most elussions to my favourite of rodarte's past collections. I saw it in the target look book and just thought "That will go with like everything in my closet" that and becuase of the asymmetrical snaps it can be morphed to look more Rick Owens when I'm having one of my more conceptual/Goth days. If I get this item, I don't know.....It would be really great. um. Yeah. Have a great whatever day you decide to read these. Thanks for listening and taking time out to do this giveaway.

But i must say i'm most excited about that lace cardigan, so much so that i may buy it in black, beige AND mustard. i know i probably shouldn't pick this item because it's the giveaway prize and it's too cliche to pick the prize and so you won't choose me, but i do really really heart that cardigan and love lace so that's that. and i am really excited to get it.

I first saw a Rodarte gown at the Museum at FIT when they had their goth special exhibit. It was a grey with red and black and wondrous all over. I think that is when I fell in love with Rodarte. Who can resist designers that used horror movies as inspiriation? Their target collection is just as magical as their their runway collections have been. It's girly, funky and a tad darker than your average girl next door garb; which is to say, frankly, the perfect combination to die for.

Ross said...

Oh. Didn't realize the giveaway was specifically the mustard lace cadi- Hrm, well it wasn't exactly on my list. When I found that the cardigans weren't knit, that made me a little iffy, but once again the asymmetrical snap is a big seller. And though yellow is a cool colour, I know that at target my main battle will be nude or black.
Thanks again Tavi,

I am in school studying apparel design in a small town in Florida that probably won't get the Rodarte collection at our Target. I have called every day for the past week, but no one knows what I am talking about. Which isn't new to me-- nobody ever knows what I am talking about when it comes to fashion. I adore the Mulleavy sisters and respect them so much when it comes to their ingenuity. Every one of their garments is perfect-- perfectly designed, constructed, and displayed. Because I will probably never see any of their runway pieces IRL, and I definitely will never be able to afford them, their Target collection is a dream to me. That's what I am excited about-- wearing something that the Mulleavy sisters designed.

Ah!! This is so nice of you (:

I guess my favorite thing would be all the lace and girliness but at the same time, how easy and wearable everything is and at such a good price!

I guess I also love the ad campaign. haha. Like the area is just so gorgeous and relaxing and it fits the collection but in a kind of opposite way. Like the area is just so different from some of the pieces, but that just makes it work so well?

Oh, and I love all the tights (:

Ok so I cheated and named 3 of the things that I like the most. But you really can't blame me (:

My absolutely favorite piece from this collection is definitely the slip dress in black (as I've mentioned in an earlier comment) but what I'm really excited about this collaboration is that I can finally own a Rodarte piece without having to give up an arm and/or a leg which is definitely a good thing as I would like to keep my limbs intact as much as possible! Hehehe! Besides, I reckon both arms would come in handy when my awesome mustard cardigan comes in the mail! ;)

Okay, this might sound cheesy and clichéd, but it's true! Everything in the collection is amazing.
I also love how an ordinary teenage blogger is involved with something as big as this. It helps me realise that even at fourteen, if I try hard enough, I can do whatever I want to.

I'm really excited about Rodarte x Target. When I first heard about it so many months ago, I totally didn't believe it and now that it's here, I also sort of can't believe it. It's so great that the girls at Rodarte are sharing their unique wonderful out-of-this-world designs with such a wide audience. I'm a boy so I can't really wear any of the designs myself without probably loosing a little bit of dignity, but you better believe every woman I know, (especially my model-pretty, fashion-phobic, sister) will be receiving the whole collection for Christmas. Love you love your blog.

Wow, this giveaway is really sweet of you! I think my favorite part of the Rodarte for target line is that i can get the awesome designer pieces for less than the designer prices (did that make sense!?). Also, I'm really excited about all the lace/tulle dresses (self-proclaimed tulle-addict). And the laceish cardigans (including the mustard yellow one, but the black one and the tannish cream one are really amazing, too) and the animal/semi-victorian prints are my faves too because they are extremely interesting but don't make you dizzy. OOH, AND THE BELTS!!!!! They are spectacularly ornate but at the same time simple and very pretty.
Thanks Tavi for having this contest thingy!

I'm super excited about the pleated tulle skirt. It looks like an excellent layering piece and I love how it's styled in the video with the tall neutral colored socks. I would personally wear it with some sort of patterned or painted tights so the designs would show through. I also love how it's reminiscent of a tutu but in a totally wearable way. I'm also really digging the vintage feel of the collection.

This collection is combination of different fabrics, juxtapose to create a veiled addition of colours and textures, is delicate like ancient embroidery, yet modern and misterious. Clothes that hide other clothes in an endless discovery. Movement and lights. Beautiful but not pretentious, difficult to create and pleasant to the hands. m_baralt@hotmail.com

Okay, Until i saw you on teen vogue "Tavi Gevinson Models Rodarte for Target" and bought the teen vogue hankbook, i never heard of Rodarte. But since then i've kinda been looking at their styles on the low and how it kind of reminds me of what people could wear in like, another planet i dont know but as soon as a passed by jourdan dunn in some type of black and brown cashmere sweater and leather jacket, it just reminded me of a planet that hasnt been formed yet. But anyways what i love about this collection is how each piece flows in with the other. like how they mixed the high waisted tights (with a bow!) with different dresses and the shorts i think is so cool. It also has a retro kind of i love lucy/old horror film feel. I know im weird i jus have a wild imgination.! My favorites from this collection is the cardigan how it comes in different colors and you can wear it with a belt, or those nice tights, the cheetah dress with i think those are bows on the back, the jean jackets, and the skirts. Thats my kind of style. I hope you can at least read this i dont care to win but it would be really nice! im 13 too and plan to do something n fashion when i get older. Talk to you soon Hopefully!

For a collaboration, it's really really good. What I like most is the fact that you can style it in endless ways thanks to the cardigans and the accessories. (Leggins, gloves, ribbonbelt!) Lots of fun colours and classy touches to it, but still edgy. It's also great that you can wear it if you're going to a party or to the opera or something, or you could wear it to school (and feel like "gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh.")

i don't know whether i'm actually supposed to take part in this because i'm from europe and shipping may be a little complicated. though i want to say what i think about the lovely things that have been created for this line.
i especially love that though the pieces have those clear cuts, the chosen fabrics make them look exciting. for example the clear shaped skirts get an edge of playground with the tulle. it makes them look light and airy which may be the reason why they're my favourite. the cardigan is also cut in a clear shape, but the lace makes it a piece of abandon, soft like a chicken and light as an elf or something. the whole line to me is a combination of the clear cut hardness and the smooth playground-feeling, which i both love.
and again: love!

The colors in the collection are great too. I always like a pop of color against black and I think the incorporation of black in every outfit helps tie the collection together nicely :) My favorite dresses from the collection have to be the black halter bow dress and this lovely whimsical, flowing dress in black or beige (http://assets.gearlive.com/fashion/blogimages/rodarte-for-target-more1.jpg). I would have to say I am most excited about the entire collection. Rodarte has been one of my favourite designers, but unfortunately for me (such a small town girl), I cannot afford it. I'm excited to own exclusive pieces that confront the boundaries of clothing. The lace pieces are by far my favourite. I'm absolutely obsessed with lace. You can dress it up, or down. Wear the cardigan with leggings and a flowery skirt, or with jeans and docs. Anything goes with the lace. I'm also extremely excited for the leopard print dress. Honestly, when I was younger - I was afraid to wear big patterns like that, but now because of your blog I've realized its about being comfortable, enjoying the clothing, and taking risks. The leopard print is a risk I really want to take, not to mention with a toule black headband.. - perfection!

i love how rodarte's clothes feel like a wearable collage. I'm in love with piles of papers and piles of ephemera and it's like they take piles of fabric and somehow magically make it hold together. I think their clothes would look beautiful anywhere, on a person or on a fancy shelf.

I do love the halter bow dress =)
It reminds me of Doir and classis 1950's prom, put with a signiture rodarte lace on top, which i think makes it more classy.
But even more so i love the mix of styles with the 1940's/50's combined with the black doc martin=esque boots!

(So many comments, oh my god)

Ok it would be just my luck if this was US only, but if it is possible to ship to a Norway contestant I'm in.

I love Rodarte for their playfulness and the colours and the cuts that are completely different from what you normally find in stores. That black dress you posted is glorious. I don't think I've been this excited about a designer collection since Sonia Rykiel pour H&M, and they sold out everything in my size (except some panties, perfectly in time for my washing machine to break down). (Also I cannot believe I just said "panties").

The vintage appeal of some of the clothes really strike a profound chord with me. I love vintage and recycled clothing, and I'm impressed by how nicely the timeless styles and structures have been implemented in these clothes to make a modern garment. I can see myself pulling an all out vintage-inspired look with these items.

The thing is - I have NO idea how to get this collection in Denmark and I am a total idiot at ebay, but the I love this collection. I actually didn't even know they had made a collaboration until I saw it here, and my, oh my, was I blown away.
My favorite piece is the black dress with the bows, because I'm like the biggest bow-fan ever!
But the feel of the collection in general was definitely what wowed me the most. The way they made these very cute dresses (and some in very cute colors, like the light blue one) and paired them with what looks like Doc Martens and made the look all cool and awesome.

Yeah, long story short - I'm rarely impressed with collaborations but this one really did the trick.

My name is Julia, and I am 13 years old. I have been interested in fashion for quite a long time, and my philosophy is that I can make a great outfit with any piece of clothing, no matter how odd-looking. The few friends I have at school know me for dressing in crazy, style-defining outfits and having the oddest and most widespread inspiration. My outfits vary from goth, vintage, famous person-inspired, to recycled/DIY glam. I have been known to wear high heels to school despite my 5'9" height. I have a very different outfit inspiration for every day, based on my mood and my fashion obsession of the moment.
Although I love fashion and have a massive collection of clothes, old and new, I have never been able to afford expensive designer clothes. I get most of my clothes from thrift and vintage stores, discount stores, and my mom's old stuff. After hearing Tavi's wonderful reviews of New York Fashion Week and all of the runway shows going on, I began to check out more designer collections on the internet. Sparked by Tavi's interest and excitement over the Rodarte line, I realized how creative and wonderful their collections are. The Mulleavy sisters are able to create unique, unequaled collections of extremely varied inspiration, and I continue to rave over their collections from years and seasons ago. But with a budget where I usually don't buy anything over $25, how could I get amazing designer styles to look good and mix and match with my old, new, and vintage styles?
Being a renown fan of Target, their prices, and designer collections among my friends, I was shocked and ecstatic to hear about the new Rodarte for Target collection. I have been counting down to December 20 for a while now. Their inspiration is much different from any other Rodarte collections, which I was amazed to see. While their Spring 2010 collection created a look that combined tough, strong, and mysterious while the models crept out of green smoke, their Target collection shows a softer side that hints at Western movies and vintage styles- but there is a wide range of many different inspirations and styles in there too- from vintage, to gothic, to girly tulle skirts, to their famous patterned tights. What stands out to me the most is the skeleton dress. The shiny sequins make it flashy and stylish, and the design is slightly gothic - surprisingly unlike anything else in the collection. Just to own one thing from the Rodarte for Target collection would be like heaven for me and my creative mind. Yours truly, Julia.

Think tiny black woolcap, skinny black laceup ankleboots, really slim khakijeans and one of those vests, u know, that fishermen wears with many pockets in some dark colour. Honestly, wouldn't that be like awesome?

Plus if I can have that beautiful mustard cardigan, I know I'll be forced (by myself) to get the lace & tulle skirt...and everything else.

I am most excited about the sequin ribcage dress--the way it was styled in the look book made me so happy. I think I'll buy it and wear it to family Christmas. The way the look book was styled in general is exactly where I'm at right now--tights, Docs, and fantastic little dresses--and all the little quips about why the ensembles are priceless made me really happy too. Having an affordable access point for Rodarte has me seriously giddy, I swear it's not the high doses of peppermint bark.

you know,

in these hard economic times (who REALLY knows what that means? but, more about that later), I really love these high end designer to commercial marketplace collaborations.

The reason why I'm so excited about Rodarte for Target is that when many of these collaborations happen, the designers sacrifice the usual quality of their designs to fit their budget. There are are simplified alterations made by Rodarte, but the general essence of their work doesn't seem to be lost, which is sort of kind of...you guess it...flippin awesome!

AND. Rodarte was always a sort of a "let your freak flag fly" kind of label, and it's really cool that in this mundane world of uggs and abercrombie (and hollister), something as mainstream as Target is promoting such a variation from the norm.

So that's why the collaboration between Rodarte and Target is so exciting.

GOT IT? :)

Oh-oh-oh is there still time?

Isn't the best thing just how it's looking so clever? I really missed witty clothing!

I adorrrrrre the way you pronounce 'Rodarte', because so far I only red the name and never heard it spoken untill your video, and never thought about how it should sound, I was probably going after something semifrench semidutch, hehehhe - something quintessential European but in American rendition I guess, and I was so right only I was wrong, but in the best thinkable way.

Hey,
well, that's really nice of you to do this competition type thing here:)
I really loved the video of Rodarte for Target, since it was shot in North Dakota (which is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, right :))
I'm actually from Germany (so just in case, shipping is gonna be more expensive! hah)and two years ago I spent a year in North Dakota at a hostfamily (between Fargo and Grand Forks, so you can look it up on a map if you want:))and went to High School and stuff (so yeah, that explains my not so awesome English)
I know this might suck to read because I'm a fan of()and it might get really confusing reading this...

But of course, the location of the spot isn't the only exciting part of this collection...(oh really...)
to be honest, I have first heard of Rodarte in your blog like a few month ago (oh and btw I first took notice of you and your blog in an extra magazine of a German newspaper (Die Zeit), so yeah, you're officially famous outside the US also...amazing!) and I had a closer eye on their fashion (like I said, BAD English) and I really admired their last collection (Spring 2010)!
Btw, I have great tights in the exact same color (so I'd probably look like a honey mustard chicken sandwich or smth, cool...)
So, have a great day (mine is already almost done) and don't take gym too hard:)
my mail: kattjana@googlemail.com
(and if you're not too busy and feel like it you could also just mail me for fun...(don't know how to express what I wanna say, but you know what I mean:))

I love the blue swiss dot dress the most. #1 because it's Rodarte, and amazing. But #2 because it perfectly captures that vintage look and feel that I love, but with out the $400 vintage 1950's dress price tag.

I am excited for the whole collection in general and guarantee that on the 20th you will be able to find me at Target. The two pieces I'm most excited for are the leopard print dress and the (sorry) yellow cardigan you are giving out. I wonder if the dress and cardigan would look good together......
Thanks so much for the oppurtunity to get a piece from the line!

I cannot choose one thing I am excited for, there are too many. The items that NEED to be in my closet tomorrow are the jean jacket, the black bow belt, and the striped top. Beyond excited !!!

i'm excited about the implications that come from taking a luxury line and making it available to people who covet the clothing they see in their magazines/zines/blogs...the clothing they usually can't afford to buy on their small, small, very small pay checks. thrifting keeps me alive, but new is so shiney! sure, i get inspired from the pictures, but oooooh! getting the pieces in the closet next to my wardrobe and mixing and matching and clothing collaging! that's where the fun begins! there was a phrase last year that really, really scared some people - what was it? oh yeah, "spreading the wealth around." everyone should be able to wear beautiful things - if they so choose.

oh yeah. and i'm excited about the lace. lace goes sooooo well with cowboy boots!

I would really like to own the Leopard print dress. I put it on my Christmas Wish- List!
But if I ever get the chance to own it, I would accessorize using red bow earrings and a black wrist-let!

Tavi! I love your blog and I can't wait to be able to browse target for your collab items. I think overall what I like about that collection is that each item is simple and versatile enough to be paired with (just about) anything in a girls closet and each piece also has an elegance I really love. As for specific pieces, I don't think I can choose, but I really like the fur vest with the striped shirt.

oh actually i like what you show at the backstage.
The printed t-shirt and that furry vest~

Thanks for sharing these great things.

I really just love designer collabs with mainstream stores. For someone with my budget, it's amazing to have access to fashion, not just clothes. I really started having heart palpitations when I heard about this, because Rodarte inspires me so much - it'd be great to have something that is actually theirs, not just something I tried to make look like theirs!

Funnily enough, the mustard cardigan really got me excited. I've been searching high and low for the perfect, fun, different mustard cardigan for at least a year and this one certainly fits the bill.

the one thing im the most exited about, is being able to wear clothing designed Mulleavy sisters.
ive been a huge fan for three years now, and the thought of being able to finally afford their pieces is absolutely amazing :)
i love everything from yes, the yellow cardigan, to the black lace dress, to the leopard dress and belt, to the adorable striped tee. simply can't wait for tomorrow!

What I love about the Rodarte line is that it propels Target, which everyone is familiar with, to a place of imagination and possibility (and I am not only referring to affordability, here, although that is very appealing!). For example, the promotional video implants the clothes, which embody an array of aesthetics and creative inspirations, into the sweeping Midwestern plains. The mustard cardigan evokes the golden landscape and transcends it through its hypersaturated hue. Americana and its associated starkness and simultaneous wholesomeness becomes an arena in which the sensuality and gothic appeal of the lace can interject and transform it. I love that the Mulleavy sisters have once again created something that sparks wonder.

The thing I love most about this collection is the potential of becoming. So many thoughts jitterbug through my head when I look at the pieces. Like the Swiss Dot Dress in blue... it's like a lacy sheet drying in the Prairies, so so white that in the sun it adopts a gentle bluey hue. It is something that I would wear to feel like Joan Didion in LA, and sit in a tree watching the world with squirrels beside me, jotting down absurdities now and then on birch paper with a quill pen. I would wear the yellow leopard dress to go and rob the cotton candy from that horrible man in the amusement park who told me that I was too old to wear cat ears on my head and speak in nadsat to my droogies like Alex in Clockwork Orange, and whenever I miss Daul Kim. I would wear the lace cardigan on rainy days and walk under a transparent umbrella in bamboo forests in Japan or what's left of rural China (can't you see it so clearly? Mustard yellow and that clean clean bamboo green! And it would float float float on.) so that I can see everything above me warp in and out of shape; I would be a Conradian -but FEY - Marlow in the heart of darkness. Or to meet my boyfriend's parents, to pretend that I'm like, Toole's Dorian Greene (isn't that wild?) and pah-pah everything. (The first thing I thought of when I saw that dress was a buttercup in the shadows of summer.) I would wear the sequin rib cage dress everyday if I ever get into medschool... to better see the jewels under the knife with, my dear. And the lace-print dress! So many possibilities! My school club, the Metaphysics Club, and I sponsor a child in Ecuador, named Bravo. If we ever get enough money to visit him one day, I would wear that dress everywhere because it will spark any and every imagination, and if anything, I want him to reach.

Thanks for reading... hopefully most of it made sense!

Hey there : ]

My favorite items on the line would have to be all the cardigans, its so romantic looking and delicate. Also, I think it captures what this is all about. The cardigan is a basic in what we wear everyday, and Rodarte clothes, something that I didnt think i can afford...ever(lool), add in their elements of style and design...creating for Target a line of Rodarte infused clothes<3, that is easy on the wallet : ]

the rodarte line was LEAKED in my town! and of course, when i arrived, the entire line was picked through and there were only large and x-large sizes left. and as i sullenly took a large with me to the fitting room all the while promising myself that oversized clothing was in, i spotted my size on the fitting room rack! and upon finding one size, it seems i found them all.. so thats where they keep the rodarte (hiding in the BACK)- cheaters.. all those employees are hogging it for themselves! haha butttt if i had that gorgeousss mustard cardigan to wear with the lace black tulle dress; man i would be the happiest little blogger on the planet. and let me tell you, that happy dance i would do would be almost as hilarious as the size of that man's eyes in this party video when he gets excited (exclusive of the champagne of course) haha.
p.s. your video is ROCKING; im loving the addition of the horror movie night question- a nice creative touch :)

Don't know if this giveaway is open for international readers... BUT I'm going to enter (or try to enter :D) anyways, because that cardigan almost made me piss my pants! It is so perfect in every possible way!! And it's my favourite piece (along with the black lace tights actually) in the collection.

First of all the colour is AMAZING, like something to die for. Secondly, I love the spider web kind of texture. And finally, I'm from Finland so I can't really go and buy any of these stunning pieces even if I wanted to. Feel sorry for me, please, and let me be one of the lucky winners. Seriously. It would be pretty freaking awesome :D.

However, I'm a little worried about whether I'll be able to order it online or not. I live in Canada and we don't have Target :(((((( Boooo!

Anyway, because I live in Canada I'm not sure if I can enter--but just incase releasekarma@gmail.com

I live in Canada so we don't have Target here. I would be most excited for that mustard cardigan, I may have to make a trip down to the USA or try and find it online if I don't win one. That video was so good, you have a way with people, and I think with your young age and sweet nature it's a quick icebreaker for them to feel comfortable with you.

I'm excited about all things lace--especially the tights and the wonderful spiderweb-y cardigans. I just love the idea of layering patterns underneath so that they peek out through the delicate flowery-things.

Plus, mustard is the colour of the leaves on the tree in my front yard. (and the best hot dog topping)

The lace cardigan! Am one to love a versatile cardigan / outerwear that complements my outfits, and Im in love with all the colors Rodarte is offering! A lace cardigan gives a mysterious "peep-through" feeling of what you are wearing underneath it; layering at its best! The mustard color really pops out too and is unlike most other mustard apparels Ive seen, while the nude one looks really darling. :)

Love the dresses as well! I like how they look like they could look girly and dressy without leggings (especially the lace slip dress), yet paired with funky leggings / tights, it creates a sort of edginess.

Overall, I love that the whole line is versatile and who wouldn't love it for its affordability too! ^^

Now I just wish I live in the US, so I can order easily from Target online! :(

Can't wait to see the other designs when it finally launches on Target online!

I like the Slip dress in black and the mustard cardigan the most because the dress has this almost goth feel to it without being costume-y and I love black tulle. The mustard cardigan because I think yellow is an underestimated colour (but my favourite!) and the colour somehow looks "thick" or heavy but the cardigan itself is so sheer.

I guess my heart races for the mustard yellow cardigan too. i'm obsessed with that colour for years! the fact that they are inspired by bonie and clyde movie just makes me love the colection even more. have you ever seen the gainsbourg's video with bardot? they got the colour palette just right.

I don't know if I can narrow down one piece that I love from this collection! Everything is just so beautiful and versatile; I feel like I could just throw out the rest of my wardrobe and wear Rodarte for Target for the rest of my life. I'm 19 now, but I think the wonderful thing about this collection is I'd be just as happy wearing it now as I would be wearing it at 60.

I adore the cardigan, of course. It's one of those things that you just can't wait to get your hands on because it's so full of possibility. The colour and the pattern make it such a unique piece... looking at it makes me feel like a little kid with a refrigerator box!

oh man i hope you have fun reading through all 1 million of these comments, wooooooo!

anyways-i'm really excited about the sheer slip dresses and lace tights and leopard print dress, oh and the jean jacket and shorts...and a bunch of other stuff, come to think of it. But I'm more excited for the stuff I haven't seen yet...the pieces that haven't been leaked or published on the internet. There's just something really exciting about walking in and not quite knowing what you're going to find.

Also, Rodarte for Target is (by definition) at Target, which means that once I'm done running around the clothing section like a maniac, I can buy candy and find a secret santa present and get some super cool footie pajamas ($12.99 in the boys' section, say whaaa?)

ALSO also, it's supposed to snow a foot and a half tonight and my mom refuses to drive me there, which means I'll most likely be walking through a blizzard to a mall on the outskirts of the city at 7 AM...and I am totally looking forward to it.

why do I love rodarte for target, the least "mass market" and most couture-esque GO collection yet?

the basic aesthetic that chimes with mine oh-too-much: fairy princess romantic, too quirky and kickass to mess with

sequins lace tulle like it's their freaking JOB- now that's authenticity!

neutral cut-out socks <3

asymmetry!!! finally! I've been buttoning my cardigans wrong on PURPOSE for months. I die.

the way that yellow lace piece layered over anything looks like the sun coming out on a late fall afternoon

I was looking for more photos from Rodarte's for Target and I found quite good look book. I am so amazed. Few weeks ago I discovered Rodarte and I fastly felt in love with their stuff. I think, here, in Poland, we can't get their clothes...
From this collection I found the best this short yellow-mustard skirt. It's totally adorable. It reminds me of spring, and with some light colours, like green or brown or orange it's going to be best to feel the "warmth of spring" witch is needed during winter time (we have lot of snow, wind and very minus temperature!)

Best Wishes to You and Very Mery Christmas, Tavi

Tavi,

Stunning---
I'm reluctant to say that I'm much looking forward to affordable fashion from such a respected name in the industry. The collaboration with exquisite brands and Target is a genius novelty..now those who are dedicated to fashion and can afford it! Then again, style is not necessarily found by price, but found with the personal expression through clothing and is priceless.

In relation to the collection as a whole, I'm looking forward to the revelation of American glamour juxtaposed with the a feminine edge. It's a mix and match collection which brings many options to the table. It seems to be a collection that can appeal to girls of many styles.
