daisy head mayzie

Hope those who celebrate had a good Christmas! I myself got these glorious earmuffs which had me making another moodboard this morning (RIP, teen witch for fall).

I'm thinking Valley of the Dolls and 60's and a cheesy 90's/early '00s (specific!) school supplies interpretation of flower power.

Flea market dress, thrifted belt, Barbie outfit from when I was little.

Borrowed copy of Valley of the Dolls (currently reading) and Best Coast 45.

Okutani earmuffs and vintage Givenchy sunglasses (gift.)
Mirror from when I was little, Tom Ford lipstick, Miu Miu clogs from Bergdorf.
Jacket of a book on Comme des Garcons.

Goody barrettes, erasers and ring from when I was little, Girl Scout patch from troopmoore on eBay, and blue flower from a gift from a friend.
These should be on the table but I keep things I need in them. Flea market Skipper case from 1968 and lunchbox from when I was little.

I'm so into this girl power vibe.

  14. i totally get what you mean about late 90's early 00's school supplies. All you need is peach body spray and a lavender purple bucket hat and you've nailed my 12th year of life. I like this kind of inspiration, no one else is doing it.

  16. These pictures look very appropriate next to that computerized portrait of you with the oversized bow. The combination creates an almost eerily nastolgic aesthetic, like a little girl from the 70's playing dress up in her older sibling's Camaro ... Barbie and Skipper in one hand, vinyl records in the other.

  20. Spottie Dottie! That, and Lisa Frank were huge binder/trapper-keeper/pencil case staples from when I was little. Lisa Frank: talk about seizure inducing colors and patterns.

60's and flower power and pink will always remind me of Lillie Pulitzer. For some reason this tidbit of information has always stuck in my mind: When Lillie Pulitzer and her children set up a juice stand in California in the 60's, she made her daughters and herself matching outfits of big, bright flower patterned dresses so the juice stains wouldn't be so noticeable. Cuz, you know, she was an heiress and socialite already, and what's more quaint then setting up a juice stand for fun?

  73. OMFG, i know this comme des garcons photo! - it used to hang im my old orthodontists waiting room ._.
but without the "comme des garcons", of course.

never would have thought of that being possible ;D

  74. My sidter has a vintage shirt that would look good in that mood board.

    http://bensstylecorner.blogspot.com/

    ReplyDelete
  75. That is a great comme des garcons photo. It looks spontaneous, not posed - which we see so much of today. It's carefree and happy and goes well with your floral neo-retro theme.

    ReplyDelete
  76. wow, buffer overflow due to floral pattern abundance ^___^
seriously, it almost looks like a fractal. or as if it spread across the other items and ate their textures.
the colours evoke a mild mid-90s Raver feeling in me. looking too long at the earmuffs might cause caries ^__^
    the glasses seem classy.
