"Why do you think Catholics don't eat meat on Fridays? The Pope owns Long John Silvers!" man I love you 30 Rock

Ah more inspiration posts. Unfortunately, however, I will be unable to apply any of this tomorrow. We have weird homeroom contests? Where we have to like...be athletic? Which is um, not exactly my prime..subject? Is that what they say? Anyway point is AAAFLARRRGEEEGARG.

Oh right happiness. Basically these are all about that warm color scheme...which was more fitting when I made these back when it was actually Fall...and not 8 DEGREES LIKE IT WAS TODAY...but, um, yeah.

And, once again, these are a few months old..so if you know the photo sources just holler? All runway photos style.com.
Background is a supa-old map of the Himeji castle, says Wikipedia. I googled "old map" and it came up. Cool.
Clockwise from upper left:
Painting by Adrian Ghenie, something from an old editorial from a magazine I don't remember, Lanvin Spring 2010, Iekeliene Stange (I swear, for the LONGEST time I thought her last name was Strange) in crazy theatrical chairs-on-head editorial in current issue of Pop, Tilda Swinton in THAT lace Prada dress with Justin Bond BOTH LOOKING SO GOOD, Marni Fall 2009, Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2009, Anna Dello Russo's arm and waist via Jak & Jil, Iekeliene Stange at a party via style.com.

I love Iekeliene's (first name basis, duh) style, how it's down to each and every detail and definitely not part of the stereotypical "model off-duty" style that certain magazines are so obsessed with. The three runway looks here are all full of BLING, as a certain old man who may or may not be my dad may or may not say. Then I just love how theatrical the picture with the chair on the head and other editorial photo with the purple criss cross tights are. Then there's just something slightly "off" with the long nude lace dress (creepy!) and bright orange pompadour which sort of matches the intensity of the painting quite nicely (and of course I mean "slightly off" in a very very good way.)

peachy keen 2
Background is Ryan McGinley's Moonmilk.
Clockwise from upper left: the RIDICULOUSLY UNFAIRLY AWESOME Catherine Baba biking in one of the most fantastic outfits ever via Jak & Jil, Peter Som Spring 2010, Anna Dello Russo shot by Garance Dore (and I'm pretty sure she's wearing the gold Dolce from collage numero uno?), Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2009, 3.1 Philip Lim Spring 2010, Iekeliene Stange having awesome personal style yet again via Jak & Jil.

The pictures here are less cohesive than the first collage, more about the colors. I don't think I've ever talked about how Iekeliene, Anna DR and Baba are three of my favorite Fashion Week followers. They ALWAYS look so damn good. Like I said, Iekeliene is kerazy. And Anna reaches a level of elegance beyond you or me, unless "you" are Anna Dello Russo, in which case, HI HOW ARE YOU! And Baba drapes like a nut. She looks like a living room from my art teacher's book from the 70's entitled Underground Interiors. Also, the fact that I own the issue of 10 with the shoot styled and modeled by Baba makes me proud.
*Is proud.*

Well that's all for tonight folks. And, again, wish me luck with both the sports and dressing for playing sports part of tomorrow.
.....BAHAHAHAH. No but seriously.

confession: i thought it was "strange" also, until i watched an interview with her where she laughed at everyone who thought so. hit me like a slap in the face with a wet fish.

  3. First off, I just want to say what an awesome blog this is. You've done a wonderful job! If you hadn't said that you were 13 (or posted pictures, or referred to middle school so often), I would've guessed that you were at least 15.

Second, I wish you good luck in participating in your school's athletic activities tomorrow! And you are sure to come up with a fabulous outfit that is also suitable for the, erm, occasion.

    Best Wishes!

  14. Oh Tavi, so many wonderful things you provide (Rodarte interviews/ cute Asian kids playing Beatles <3 songs etc. etc.) but unfortunately so little internet useage I have left (before I'm hyper-charged for excess useage). But once this current billing period has passed and I have new megabytes to play with, I'll be hitting your inspirational material hard :-) I did however watch your promotional video work for Rodarte, and was suitably (or dressably as the case may be) impressed.

P.S Goodluck for the playing of sport, and can I recommend a good RUN-DMC style ADIDAS tracksuit as an appropriate outfit. That way, if the sport isn't working, you can bust a move, and break into a rap... wika wika wika :-)))

  15. The good thing about cold weather is that you can wear tons of layers and not sweat to death underneath it all!
    :D YAH?

Well, that's how I see it. Then again it doesn't get as cold as only 8 degrees here. The California sun would never allow us to freeeze---at least not the valley D:!

  16. P.S.

Good luck with the sports thing. If it were me..I would have been "Sick" that day.

  56. Actually, the idea of using warm colors in winter has been around for a very long time. It's part of the concept of picking what dishes to use in Asian cusine and many other ways. The idea is that by seeing warm colors it will help keep a person warm. So yay to throwing together that sunny collage.

Good wishes for the sports stuff. And funny seeing you all over the place today. Must be odd to have strangers debating what you do for fun. So best wishes with that too.
